This weekend I was very few of my friends on and know most have already started to play other games. So I returned to my one true love, SURVIVAL. I decided I hadn't played PvE in quite a while and thought hey maybe I will gear up and help others to extract. It starts by me running to the local crash sight. As I approach and see to players camped and hiding nearby. SPOILER ALERT! for those who don't know what is coming, you may want to turn back now.
Any how, though I am the furthest back, they AI almost immediately see me. So I engage, hopefully these two outstanding citizens will jump in and we will clear this and move on. So to quote Dr. Suess, I kill NPCs here, I kill NPCs there, I kill the NPCs everywhere. Seeing loot dropping, but being the focus of the NPCs. Once the smoke clears and I finish the last one, I turn around and loot all gone not even one green piece to say thanks for the help and of course my new found friends are no where to be found. So what I came to help others, that was my mood at the time.
So I look around for loot as I head for a landmark nearby. Not overly confident going to the landmark with only my original gear, not looking forward to this. Yet here I go, I search the easy loot to find it has all been looted. Low and behold I do find my new friends, once again hiding from the NPCs. Now my gut tells me how this will go. I will fight and they will loot. So if I want anything I will have to be very very quick to nab it and so game on. As I kill NPCs I grab what I can and eventually this is my down fall cause a NPC eventually puts me down.
Now here I am thinking this two outstanding players which their names will be remembered as Legends for their bravery will come to my aid. I was correct being only one AI left, these two heroes came out of their hiding places with guns blazing and teach a listen to any and all.
Now the part that warms me late at night on those cold NYC nights, these heroes, my heroes, then just stand there and do emotes over my body and wait for me to leave the game. Not once did they try to help a downed agent. So I did the one thing any good agent would do. Yeah they won the day, they got all that I earned, so they could live as only legends do, it costs them 5 mins of their time as I dismantled what little gear I got and went and got me a drink and a snack. Once I got booted and started my next adventure in SURVIVAL!
Tbf Yodaman.... thats the only risk element in pve. Otherwise it would be as boring as hell. I can actually remember being frustrated doing the revive commendation bc no one would stay logged in. PvE doesnt mean everyone is friendly. Au contraire it just means you have to always be aware that players wont help you. Esp. so if they dont make any effort to help you or say helo. Ive actually be chased away a few times in survival pve when I played it bc I was hogging their preferred route! ^^
The only risks in PvE, so that explains the 100% extraction that everyone has. hahahahaha. Sorry that isn't the case, cold, illness, NPCs, loot already looted, and/or combination of these, that many players still find the mode a challenge and fun.Originally Posted by agentCoats Go to original post
Though I understand that there was no requirement where they had to help me, I just found it both funny and sad that they couldn't take down either site and yet had no problem taking all the loot, refuse to help the guy who made it happen, and then do emotes like you did something special. Once again in the game that in this instance requires zero need for toxicity, yet players brought it into PvE. Maybe that it what makes it fun for you, but I just don't see it.
As for you being ran off of invading someone's route, what exactly did they do? Take your lunch money? Refuse your friend requests? Use one of their emotes on you? In PvE, only thing they can do is hope to get you in a situation where they can lure NPCs to you and stick you with the fight.
Edit: I admit I was willing and wanting to help others till they dropped the emotes. That was the part the dug in wrong with me. To me that is where the toxicity hit.
Now in my latest run, this was not the case, I stepped in while they were hiding and died to only after not killing the last NPC. That was on me, but you are right PvE doesn't mean being helpful at all to others. It is about Survival.
There have been times when I revived a player only to see the same player being revived by other players again and again. My rule is I'll revive anyone once. Unless they stole loot from one of my npc kills or areas while I cleared the npcs. It costs you a medkit afterall.
I like that you can at least KO a player in PvE if they are downed. I did that once to a guy who was following and stealing gear from my kill area, while I had aggro. It was a few minutes later, but I remember the name. I think they should bring back the ability to loot or revive a dead player in PvE survival for times like that. Someone else revived him....
I don't think dismantling your gear actually dismantles it - had a similar experience to you Yoda and a couple of d'bags waited for me to exit so I made them wait and dismantled everything I could but when I finally left the feed said what they looted - all the gear I thought was dismantled. Obviously you can't really do anything when you are dead on the ground and the fact you can do this via your inventory is probably a bug.
Yeah and the reason I so wish they had a pure solo option. It's fantastic when you are the only player on the serverOriginally Posted by Light-Zone2.0 Go to original post![]()
What makes it that sound strange is I have killed other players in PvP and them not drop loot, when I know that they did have loot.Originally Posted by SF_Gweadobane Go to original post
