Dear Community & Developers,
After completing Far Cry 5 I was rather disturbed by the incredible lack of weapons in the game. Especially, since the developers themselves declared that this Far Cry will have the biggest arsenal of weapons in a FC game to date. Obviously, everyone who has played the game will have noticed that this is a lie. Theoretically, it is not a lie because their claim is true... On paper. If we look closer we have a ton of UNNECESSARY gun variants we do NOT NEED and that we did NOT ASK for. After Far Cry 4 the community kindly asked the developers for a new "fresh" weapons list and no more recycled assets from the previous games. I am rather shocked by the fact that we the community have been fooled, lied and ignored. We all love and are incredibly passionate about this franchise here in the forums. Thats why we come here to share our concerns and wishes. At the moment I feel betrayed considering how much effort everyone here puts into their thoughts and how negative the reception is.
What I personally don't understand is Ubisoft share assets across their studios. For example, why is it not possible for some of the assets (guns) from Rainbow Six Siege be given to the Far Cry team??? What about assets from The Division?
This is a message directed towards the developers themselves. We did not ask for ten thousand variants of the same old recycled guns we already know from previous games. We asked for a NEW FIREARMS LIST. That means, MORE NEW and A LOT OF NEW. NO MORE VARIANTS OF THE SAME GUN AND NO MORE RECYCLED ASSETS FROM THE PREVIOUS TWO GAMES !! STOP IT!!
Thank you for listening, I hope I'm not the only one who feels this way. Please share your thoughts.
Yeah the lack of weapon choices was super frustrating, especially for those who came to FC5 directly from Wildlands or R6. But I guess this is a studio thing, I don't expect Montreal to just take everything or anything from other studios. With that said, I'm still wondering why you guys cannot make new weapons.
And weapon balancing is really poor too. During the 84 hours I spent, M60 is just OP. The scope and one of the skills give M60 great accuracy, and the gun has high damage. Considering its fire rate, it's basically a full-auto sniper with a little less accuracy, killing everything in my way with that rediculous DPS. The existance of M60 really defeats the purpose of that of other weapons, in terms of combat efficiency, except maybe explosive weapons'. Don't get me wrong, I love a stealthy game, but it's really hard for me to stay stealthy when I can clean out an enemy outpost under 40 secs with my M60.
In real terms, not including variants thereof, this is what we get to play with:
Pistols
P226
1911
Revolvers
.44 Magnum
SMGs
SMG-11
Skorpion
A-99
MP5
MP40
Vector (currently not available)
Shotguns
D2
M133
SBS
SPAS-12
Rifles
AR-C
45/70
MS16
AK-47
AK-M
Sniper Rifles
308 Carbine
MBP .50
SA-50
LMGs
M60
M249
Launchers
M-79
RPG-7
RAT4
Bows
Recurve Bow
Compound Bow
Special
Slingshot
Flamethrower
Magnopulser
I think most of the categories are pretty well fleshed out, but the pistols and revolvers are sorely lacking, in my opinion.
So not a lie then...Originally Posted by Argonaut_Knight Go to original post
I get that people want more...
On the topic of using assets from other Ubisoft games, this is already something that has been done. Vehicles have been recycled from Watch Dogs in a couple of games, the Landrock 2500 van appears in Ghost Recon Wildlands and in FC5 (though it has been re-named and re-badged for the latter game). The 3.9T from Watch Dogs also appears in FC5 under a different name, too.
Pistols in first-person games are awful 9/10, so I don't miss them. The only one I have in FC5 is the one you start out with, and I don't even use that unless my others run out of ammo.Originally Posted by Sera.. Go to original post
I love the idea of using a pistol in these games, so when I say they're awful I'm not talking about performance or usefulness, but the animation for the way they're carried and fired.
I wonder when a developer will be brave enough to look at the way a pistol is used in real life and replicate that in a game, instead of sticking with the same old, same old. I hate the way pistols are held out in front of the face the whole time, and always too close to the face when firing. When you arm yourself with a pistol in these games, the gun shouldn't even be in view most of the time, as it would be in a lowered position somewhere around your crotch, pointing at the floor, but of course they've got to pander to the idiots who would be crying, "Where's my gun? Where's my gun?" when it's not floating out in front of their face the whole time.
For the same reason more first-person games (especially open world ones) should have a 'lowered' or 'at ease' kind of position, where the rifle is held across the midriff and pointed at the ground, a yard left of your feet.
Fallout 4 has a mod for this, but it's just about the only game (at least on console) that does. The pistols and some of the rifles don't look very good, but you get the idea.
I just wish someone could explain to me how I can play through the entire game using the Vector45 Shredder ( a favorite weapon in my load-out). Then start a new game (deleting the first one to play on level hard) only to find I have NO VECTOR 45acp in my weapons choices?
How did this happen, where did it go and HOW DO I GET IT BACK?
i am playing the PS4 Deluxe version of Far Cry 5 and would pay real money to have that weapon back on my machine.
