I really don't get why Ubisoft games have this save system. I just lost 35 Hours of gameplay in Far Cry 5, and when i tried to look if i could recover it. There was no way. It was too late. Why the hell won't ubisoft have more Slot Saves at a time? In Far Cry 5 you only have 1 Save. 1! And when you want to start up a new fresh game, you need to completely delete your save file. Doing that, and then wanting to go back to it for a little while, is impossible. Why does Ubisoft have this system of saving and restoring saved games. Now i need to grind 35 hours of my life to get to the point where i had 100% completion of the game.
But NOW i know there is a way to save a game and play it after you started a new one, requires some manual work from file to file every time, but it works, though only on PC. It's such a simple mechanic the Devs could have made for this absolutely amazing game, but they did not.
This has been in a lot of Ubisoft games and others, but why don't they go back to the 'slot save system' again? I've heard people say it was like this until they did not continue making the system further on in the future.
Now i have to admit, i messed up a little. I wanted to go and do the others endings, which i failed to remember that you only have one save. So i started up a new game to do it, it was a 'secret ending' if you could call it that, but it saved and i lost the old save.
There was of course another ending at the end which i wanted to do too. But now i only had that new save, but i wanted to go back, but nope. I could not. All my previous grinding was lost.
I had UPlay Syncronicing on at the time, and i looked into this save problem afterwards. I tried a lot of things, looked at forums posts, support cases, a lot of googling and messing around with the files to see if the old one was still there.
Afterwards i made two saves in different folders so i could swap them out and replace them or put in a previous save that i wanted to play. But now i was left with two new games.
This whole thing could not have been a problem and i knoww i'm not the only one suffering this problem, others have the save problem. And people on console can't even do nothing about it. On PC you can because you can manually mess around with files and such, but not on console.
It's a simple system to implement, but Ubisoft hasn't done that. They left it up to us to do it all my ourself. I'm dissapointed in Ubisoft for doing this again and again. We are on Far Cry 5! And still, they haven't done it.
PS: No, i did not have Windows File Saving ON.
Are you implying that you beat the game and now need to start over to experience a different ending because you are not able to play from your previous save near the end? If so I understand that is frustrating but you actually haven't "lost" your time.
If you encounter the granite error, which seems to be relatively common with NO fix, then you truly will lose all of your progress.
I have tried every "fix" suggestion that I could find.
40+ hours across 2 long saves, gone. I have also run into the issue as soon as I am able to save on Dutch's island which then makes progressing impossible.
I have tried reinstalling Uplay. I have made sure drivers and OS are updated. I have tried playing the game with cloud saves active and not active. I have tried launching through Uplay and through Steam. I have run the game from the /bin folder as Admin. I have run a fresh install of FC5 along with verifying the cache and file integrity. There is no sure-fure fix for this issue.
Ubisoft needs to acknowledge what is going on and find a fix for this issue. It is MADDENING to lose 40 hours of my time on a game I can't possibly finish now because of "Granite Error: 2000000" or whatever it is.
I was able to play for another 20 hours on my second save by deactivating cloud saves, deleting all game saves and cache after a fresh install and launching from /bin as admin, but the problem reared it's head and destroyed that save as well. So there are no actual solutions.
I won't stop talking about this until there is an actual fix from Ubisoft or they acknowledge the problem

This has just happened to me againI followed the reset instructions given by Ubisoft support here on the forum and I played another week no problem, but it just happened again. Had completed 2 regions and half way through Holland Valley. Damn Ubisoft, you why haven't you fixed this yet??? This is the worst game breaking bug ever and even after over a month, you haven't fixed it.
Lost 2 days of progress in which i came from 50% to 76%. Very frustrating.
And i ONLY could save the 50% because i made a manual backup, this is horrific.
Thank you ubisoft for ruining my game expierience with your wonderful uplay client and its perfect cloud save. Really. Thank you. I will make sure to never buy a game from you directly again and will buy it from steam. The thing is, this issue exists since like ever. Did they ever aknowledged it? No? Surprise Surprise.
