Is it possible to avoid the stupid timed segments?!!!

You may love them, I hate them. A lá Far Cry 2: "I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR THIS!"

I don't want to play an arcade game or be forced to rush about with a timer running. Gaming is becoming like madcap cartoons these days with any semblance of intelligence fast disappearing.

If you're reading this Ubisoft I will never again buy a FC game in advance. More fool me trusting in your promises. I suppose I ought to have known you'll just continue with the same formula of 3 and 4 but in a different landscape.

So, to the point. Having already run about like a maniac under a timer once in this game I'm not going to repeat it. This is on par with the drug-induced stupors of lazy programming instead of allowing players to THINK things out and use their INITIATIVE. If there's no means of avoiding the timed sequences in FC5 to complete the game then I won't bother.

While the game has nice topography a lot of the world is static (unlike FC2 where the natural world reacts to movement, gunfire and explosions). I won't even detail the the terrible AI in FC5, the animals with armoured skins, the ridiculous spawnings and the transport that disappears if you glance away. I should have bought the game via Steam then I could have got a refund. Urrrgh!!!!!

I haven't reached these yet, but despite that fact I couldn't agree more. I'm terrible at timed missions and what starts out as a plan to play a nice, long leisurely session in these virtual worlds, often ends up with me feeling so fatigued after a dozen attempts to complete a mission, any enthusiasm I started out with is killed.

Yes,it's as annoying as hell and each one you do gets longer & harder than the previous, added to that I had a temporary bug in the part at the beginning where you snatch the first pistol off the table but it wouldn't let me pick it up and as you cannot cancel it the only option was to alt tab out of the game & restart.

In previous games with annoying timers I have resorted to using a trainer to stop the clock but for this game the available trainers do not include this option unfortunately

I HATE several old and modern gaming conventions, one is regenerating health 😡😡😡 .... and the other is time limits.. 🙄😭😭

I haven’t encountered the time limits yet.

It’s really frustrating - because I think FC5 is weighed downed by some really annoying design choices. It’s a shame because there’s a really good game underneath it all IMO.

Thankfully I'm one of these people who couldn't care less about 100 percent-ing a game. But if these timed missions are needed to liberate a zone I can see my controller (or maybe my foot) going through the tv screen.

Ironically this could be one of those situations where the ability to have some missions auto-complete is a good thing.

There is absolutely a point to them.
I can probably run the entire course in my head now...

I'm finding more and more things I hate about this game as I continue playing.

I've put FC5 on one side, basically waiting until the ridiculous spawning issues (PS4) are fixed, but now I'm reading about timed segments. I hate timed segments in open world games. There's no need for them, they break the immersion. It's also lazy programming. I read quite a few reviews before I bought the game. Unfortunately for me, I didn't read anything about the spawning issues or dreaded timed segments.

I will not buy any game, no matter the publisher, on release day again. I'll first check out the official forums and if a game is well received by those who are actually playing it, I'll pick it up 6 months later when it has been fully patched and much cheaper.

I usually do this, but I was so impatient for this game I caved in and bought it the day after release.

If more people took this attitude, maybe it would force developers to take a little more care over their games before release. Unfortunately the world is full of those who think they're clever because they're prepared to queue up at midnight at their local store.

The best way to maximize quality is if you can pay after testing a product: that way bad products cease to exist.
