Hey HorTyS how's it going? I haven't crossed paths with you for a while but saw your post here. I have been very busy being back in college full-time. Going to school at age 63 is a trip!Originally Posted by HorTyS Go to original post
The replay value will never be in the story mode.
In fact, the story mode is only a tiny part of the game, you should maybe look into creating your own levels and maps using the map editor. Once the story is finished there are 1000's of hours of playability in the map editor.
I'm actually getting ready to buy this game. I've waited long enough due to the fact that I've played them all so I know what to except and one of those things is replay value.
I'm use to picking up a FarCry game and doing one play through and that's it. I'm not saying that it's okay but I feel like the FarCry games really showcase the new tech and trends in gaming and anything else is a treat. Not to downplay the franchise at all but looking back at the games history, it's easy to see that they fall into the same pit every time they make one of these games.
FC5 seems to want to get our of the rut but i've waited this long to play it so I could make sure and from reading around I know what i'm getting myself into. I'm getting myself into a Far Cry Game lol.
By the way, it was brilliant decision by developers, to let people play as a male or a female! 46% of gamers are women. And we are only two on this planet. No third. And women were always opressed, everywhere. No they can play Far Cry as a female. Very good! There were rumours that in FC5 we will play for a female......I don't think most of males would like it. But wise decision was found! It should be so in the next games also! (I only hope the game won't turn into the next "Fortnite" because of that)
@Sabotur:: yes the editor looks really interesting. I tried it once and I like that you can also edit the post video effects, or whatever its called. But tbh since that last post I've actually been playing around in Far Cry 4's editor (as well as FC4 itself). That's also fun.
@terry427: Negativity, or just the way the game feels to some of us? Its great that you like the game so much. Some people just feel differently, some people play games differently. That's ok, right? Regarding me, like I said, the game should be the best, and strictly speaking it is, but I'm just not feeling it. It just doesn't inspire me anymore, what else can I say? I haven't touched it since. Its no biggie, its just a game, I have Far Cry 3 and 4, and of course GRW! But yeah, it seems to be a thing these days that everyone is posting their opinion on stuff these days, so I thought, what the heck. Maybe the guys at Ubisoft might find some use for it?
Anyway, my hat is still off to the guys that made it, its definitely very nicely crafted, I don't regret buying it, they deserve the money, but it doesn't inspire me to replay it.
Good to see you getting into the map-editor. It takes a bit of patience at first. And FC4 was also a good map-editor.
Games like Call of Duty I usually buy 2nd hand just to play the campaign which has no replay value and isn't even half as long as Far Cry's, so compared to COD I would say FC is hands down a better game overall.
It's because Ubi really wanted to push 'arcade' mode down our throats. And you get perk points by playing that. So their logic was basically "Oh, you want more perk points? Then you better get your arse into Arcade mode!!"Originally Posted by AndyJackson2012 Go to original post
But the problem of course is that arcade doesn't appeal to the majority of players.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for PvP etc, but people just don't want weird half-baked fan-made maps, 99% of which suck.
The ability to use assets from other Ubisoft games was a terrible idea, because it just means that most of the maps just look like some kind of nightmarish fever-dream.
And slightly more on topic; I have over 700 hours in FC5 campaign, which suggest to me that it DOES have replay value. Most of which comes from the sandbox (emergent narrative) nature of the free roam sections. Every playthrough is different and fun, regardless of the fixed narrative aspects of the plot and resistance meter.
Another thing that makes replays worthwhile is playing co-op with random people. Everyone I play with plays differently, which is another thing which makes each playthrough fun. I only wish the game had better in-game communication for people who don't use microphones, and also a campaign co-op lobby for finding partners would also be a useful addition (and much more logical than having to post on forums/steam in the hope that someone might add you).
Try doing them with just melee weapons. Jacobs bunker using nothing but shovel and throwing knives is fun.Originally Posted by terry427 Go to original post

I think the ending was quite interesting, a lot of food for thought.
