About the nukes, something that just clicked after hearing what Jacob said.

After fighting Jacob something clicked, that made sense considering how deeply ubi tried to learn how brainwashing, deprogramming and so on works.

Your the bad guy the entire game and you don't realize it because your already brainwashed/conditioned. All your character knows and remembers is what you do as the player, but not what the character does that you the player do not know. Aren't the keys around the necks, nuke keys? And what if the silo's are not empty just you don't see the nukes since your not programmed to see them?

The line It's all you, Only you makes this theory more grounded than the rest. Your the tool without knowing from the minute you start the game and depending on how hard you push, you do things that undermines you and everyone else in the process without knowing. You think assassinating Eli etc was the only programming you received because it's the only one they let you see and remember.

But brainwashed people, tend to forget what they do when triggered. So my theory is you primed the nukes when you entered the silos and forgot about it.
Then when you go to arrest him, the nukes go off because you primed them and there's something possibly on you that triggers them, but you don't remember. If you don't arrest him you still ****ed over the county by surrendering the

Breaking the seals means you primed the nukes.

Also adding something I forgot, you being a deputy ensures you prime the nukes and give him his end of the world, because your driven to stop him as a law enforcer. Also I'm starting to wonder if Dutch had anything to do with it.

Also you are alone in the bunkers.

    That's my theory

But why be allowed to kill all the religious nutters, why pick on the rookie to do any of this if they had such strong control. Now I admit I I missed beardy all the cut scenes because they are just parts where you are forced to listen to someone rant (I went to the kitchen or did stuff on my second screen instead) but I seem to remember a bit about the rookie doing this killing causes the event. How?

Did this mind control make me unable to realise none of the planes or helicopters could take me out of there. The crucible of this fight in the county doesn’t have any effect on the outside world because the nutter say you’ve been isolated. For all the violence done by the rookie, it’s nothing compared to the cultists so they are an example of the world going to pieces, not the rookie.

Correct me if I’m wrong here because as I said as soon as I realised I was caught with these forced ranting cut scenes I stopped listening/caring but became frustrated enough with the game for me to write this lol.

Thing is he likely didn't expect things to get that crazy, and maybe it's not him directly. But Jacob does say things that make it look like you never had control, that you are doing things without realizing it while you think your saving people. The only time it's clear how much time passed when captured is the time Pratt helps you escape (7 days). You don't know how long you been in Dutch's bunker. All of time passes in the game that you don't noticed.

But having played through it, I can't help but constantly turn back towards you're not yourself from the beginning you think you are, but your not and you do things you don't remember. Outside of the capture cut scenes.

Also you have to remember Joseph is a master at manipulation. Just because he says one thing, and acts all torn up etc... you can't take him at face value. The cut scene where Joseph talks after killing a boss, is him directly talking to you in person, your face to face. It's not him talking to himself.... or he's breaking the 4th wall and talking directly to the player... who thinks what their doing is what their character does.... but their character does thing that you don't know while your playing.

It's convoluted, but it makes sense for me anyways, I've always been open minded about things not always being what you perceive or think. And this game has too many "Huh" what did you just say moments that sort of makes you rethink the situation and wonder. Plus there's some subtle things that don't feel right.

Cult leaders try to create their own apocalypse. Manson did it. Jim Jones did it. The fictional character, Joseph, did it. He set off the nuke. all is not lost. Rook is tied to a bunk bed ready to break free and jam a butter knife into Joseph's ear.

Learn how it works? The brainwashing found in Far Cry 5 is one of fiction.

My 2 cents about your theory:

    - Don't put too much in the Drug/Bliss/Only you... things. All Far Cry games has drug/esoteric part in their games.
The Bliss drug is one thing, but programming the mind by listening one song when you see and hear Jacob little box only 3 times during the game is quite far fetch, IMO...

    - A seal is broken each time you do something important against the cult. 1st is trying to arrest Joseph. One for each lieutenants you kill, etc...

    - In John bunker, you have to climb up inside an empty silo. Beside, your partner would have noticed if there was one missile when she operate the platforms to let you climb...

    - Any government would not deal with a group that has nukes with only a warrant, let alone nuke missile(s)...

    - If you listen to the radio when driving cars, sometimes you can hear news that are quite grim. Like big cities targeted and "cuban crisis" level of world tension...

I think your are right minotaur36. the truth is joseph was right all along. and you (the player) are the bad guy for stopping him. i dnt think joseph had the nuke. and i think the programming only turns you in to a rampaging maniac like the walk away ending point out.

many people are mad about the ending but its pretty amazing in my opinion. i love that the crazy guy was right. and maybe far cry 6 could be in a nukclear apocalyps.

No, it makes you the antagonist of his cult. "Bad guy" implies you're doing bad things.

The cult had nukes theory is one that just won't go away. Unfortunately, no one has ever proposed a sensible explanation for where the cult got a bunch of nukes in the first place. If you can't come up with a reasonable explanation for how that happened, then all further speculation is completely pointless.

Some of you have sucked too deeply from the bottom of the bliss barrel - have fun with the game purely as a game, allow your brain to simply indulge in some escapism without nailing it to the door and trying to dissect every atom of it.
