Oh there's definitely drop, about 26" at 350m (height of 3 cinder blocks + rough estimate of where he place the waypoint target)). It's less than the roughly 42" at 350m of the standard HTI, but a significant drop none the less. Need I remind you 350m in real world distances is nothing for a powerful sniper rifle, and there's no way you should get 26" drop at that range. It's just a flaw in the game design they've never admitted to.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
Skip to the 6:18 mark for the drop test.
If that was your intent, saying "no bullet drop to speak of" was not the way to go about it. I mean 26" at 350m isn't even anywhere close to minimal drop, let alone "no bullet drop to speak of".Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
Suffice it to say this game applies significant drop to every weapon in the game, more so than any tactical shooter I know of, and it's nowhere close to being realistic.
The bullet drop in GRW has been spoken about plenty, and for good reason. For a game with such a huge world, this kind of thing does it a huge disservice.
Again, within the context of how the game is designed, I'm quite comfortable with my original comment as it relates to the BDC. It far out shines the other sniper rifles when it comes to the issue of bullet drop.
Now, as to what should be taking place within the game when it comes to this issue of bullet drop, I totally agree.
Someone check my calcs, please I'm just back from the pub, but sniper rounds usually have a muzzle speed somewhere between 800 to 1000m/s which means (ignoring drag) that the bullet will hit a 350m target in 0.35 to 0.44 seconds. In that time the drop due to gravity will be 0.6m to 0.95m or 24" to 37". With drag that drop would be greater, but we don't know what the sights are ranged at; they seem to be all set at 0.
The only attractive feature of the HTI BDC is the extra damage it does on vehicles. Bullet drop wise it doesn't live up to the range it should. A much better reward for Tier 40 would have been the semi auto Serbu BFG-50A, because at least then you can get in another shot or two before the enemy takes cover if you miss the first shot. Of course they applied that rifle as a reward for buying Fallen Ghosts instead. Many here have mentioned as well a distaste for having to use the horrible camo of the HTI BDC, which can't be changed.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
It's not so much that 350m is a short distance, it's that even at that range you have to account for ridiculous amounts of drop, and anything beyond that range becomes a risk of alerting enemies. That's not exactly a good recipe for an effective sniper rifle, because we all know how annoying it can get when the enemy is alerted, and if you've not had that happen with this rifle, you're using it at fairly short range.
I don't believe I am even close to hitting that perk yet and I do believe I can already 1 shot Helos with the std HTI. I have not been able to play much, either too busy or in pain from an altercation I had with a mango branch while trying to trim it this past weekend lol.Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
Truly not attempting to start any argument here, So .... my comment is based on recalling postings related to the std HTI ability to always one shot a helo, once the appropriate perk is maxed. Since my standard play style (non-Tier) isn't as a sniper I haven't even used the std HTI, and my Tier character uses the BDC due to its leveled-up damage and lack of "extreme" bullet drop at my long-range shooting scenarios within the game-world.Originally Posted by GiveMeTactical Go to original post
Perhaps what I recall isn't accurate, or the postings weren't.
