This is extremely disappointing. After Wildlands with it's respawning enemies MID-game and Tier mode, I thought the devs finally understood that players want the experience to last as long as possible. (Personally I thought this was obvious a decade ago with open world games, but what can you do.)
The game is PRAISED for it's craziness of random events clashing into each other, sometimes making already existing events more unique whenever they happen. Yet at the same time, it seems it wants to take all that away simply by playing the game. The game is giving you all these guns which take time to unlock but by the end you're going to have nothing to shoot.
This seems like a HUGE stepback. I'm so tired of these open world games becoming "dead" for the sake of the story. We already have the ability to reset outposts, so that's already going against the lore, so why not go all the way? It may not make sense realisticly in the end, but I'm willing to have a suspsension of disbelief for the sake of having fun.
I was willing to rush through the story missions just so I could reset the outposts AND have random enemies to fight so I can actually enjoy the huge amount of side missions without walking through deadspace in between. But now that I know that's not going to be the case; the capturing of outposts doesn't seem to be tied to random enemy spawns, it's the leaders' existence. Sure Arcade wil always be there, but like the other guy said, Arcade is a different vibe, you can't use your own guns, and no one map will ever offer the same kind of quality as the main campaign.
It's not like you can even make a new profile either. You have to delete your ONE profile and start over completley. You can probably back it up externally sure, but it's besides the point. The intent is still there. I think Far Cry 3 gave you at least three slots, so why not this one?
The real kicker is even if you could start a new profile, the whole design of the world progression seems intentionally designed to force you to reach that inevietable dead world devoid of any threat. (A rare single car pratrolling the roads is not enough, if even THAT is going to be a thing when you kill Joseph.) Almost everything you do gives you resistance points, which is fine, but certain content is locked unless you beat the leaders. You'll reach that dead end at one point or another.
I've finished John's region, and almost halfway through Faith's. If the format of locking out the main HUB is going to be the same for all three, that means you're forced to kill them once you reach max points, points you cannot avoid getting, if you ever want to make that HUB useable again. With the sheer amount of side missions the game has, it's pretty much impossible not to reach max points before doing them all, not unless you want a locked HUD + missions you didn't gather there for the whole time you're playing.
If I remember correctly, there was a Far Cry 3 mod that enabled enemy patrols at all times, or at least prevented whatever scripted events that would lessen the enemies to not do so. Hopefully we can see this happen for this game too? If modding would even be allowed? (There's a Nexus site for it, but most of it is just skin changes or Reshade profiles.)
I understand that not everyone enjoys the constant chaos and would like to feel rewarded for beating the leaders by not getting interrupted all the time. But for those of us who enjoy it, at least give us the option to keep that going. If this game was more linear I probably wouldn't want enemies to keep coming back either, but this game is not linear at all.
