This is my mini-manifesto about Farcry 5, after playing it completely.
1. Game developers and Co. should take it easy with the commercial side of the thing. I think they only think that players around 7-16 would buy the game. Old-school gamers like myself (30.y.o. here), can't stand the never ending cliché, child-oriented story of today's most games. It was a torture.
2. Cliché, cliché and cliché. Plus kids. This is Farcry 5. Bonus: Samurai haircut is out-fashion like 3 years ago. So even this was a failed cliché.
3. Gameplay is excellent, but the story is so, but so boring and cliché (again) that I skip almost every cutscene. So bad and boring.
4. The atmosphere was not good. I didn't feel it was US at all. Nor the theme of Conspiracy theories was properly used and it was not effective at all. Too much gaps. It appears that the developers were not aware of what they were trying to mock.
Conclusion:
I am coming to the conclusion that I must stop buying those child, money-oriented games, because they are too much the same nowadays. I can't bare it anymore and whenever I play I feel dumb and fell I am wasting my time. So, PLEASE STOP FOCUSING SOLELY ON THE KIDS EXPERIENCE WHEN MAKING GAMES.
That was my 2 cents, hope it make a difference in the future
I doubt it. And speaking as a 50.y.old who's been enjoying it, you don't know what 'old school' means yet.Originally Posted by bruno_dr Go to original post

Yes, i know what old school means. I am from the time of the Lucasarts adventure games of the 90's so yes, I would consider myself old school, my friend. But this is not an apologize to think this game is childish.. it's just too cliché for my head. Let's compare it with the upcoming RDR2 later in the year and then we can make comparisons.. but trust me, I know what I am talking.I doubt it. It's funny how you say to embrace enjoyment or misery, but have you asked yourself what kind of thing are you embracing ? Because if you really thought this game was pure enjoyment instead of a loaf of bad ta$te $tuffed with 2nd class cliché (not even 1st class), maybe you just have bad taste, and this is not big deal at all, since it's rare to find someone with good taste nowadays, don't you agree ?
