Same happened to me and i didnt want to lose the patrol ( 2 carriers and 2 huge oceanliners) so i just dived to periscope depth at 1/3 surface and the batteries recharged by themselves and do it again and again and again and again ( must be a bug for the batt recharge). Gets u home though. use highest time compression with fingers on the S and P keys </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
And thus the term P.S.-ing home was born.

If fuel is running low, then sail along at 1/3 speed, you will travel 10 times the distance..or there abouts !
Ahead full or flank uses way too much juice !

Turn your sub in a u boot. I believe some german boots had sails, for saving fuel... </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Where on earth did you hear that?! Never happened. It would certainly have made a crash dive an even more "interesting" experience than it already was!

Looked It up for you. I found some information on wikipedia in my language about it. Some early subs used sails, but they lost there advantage (elemet of surpise and low visability) when using the sails.
There is even... lol ... listen to this. In 1860 they constructed a ship witch was powered by steam. They constructed only one ship of this kind since it could be seen from far away.

I can top this all. Enough fuel to reach the base at JAWA, but the japs ALWAYS get it before I can reach it.
