Far Cry 5, Co-op play is not as advertised.

So my brother and I, specifically look for coop games to play together, we have played the whole series and we where super excited to hear we could play the whole campaign together.
    Butb this isn't true...
The host player plays normally but the person joining well they get screwed. The game doesn't give the joiner credit for weapon unlocks, story progression, resistance points. Why is this bad? Because a bunch of game content is locked behind it. So as you play with a friend they unlock better guns, vehicles, even talents while the joiner is trying to keep up playing with stock gear and less talents.
The further the game progresses the worse it gets, bunch of needed talents locked behind taking down one of the Lts, don't get credit now you can't unlock the 4th holster or all the weapons locked behind required resistance points.
This utterly ruins the enjoyment of coop play and is just false advertisement cause you are nothing more then a controlled npc
Plenty of games out the make it work, there is no reason to not attribute map unlocks and story for the coop player if they are on that quest. Dead Island and Dying Light come to mind..

Extremely disappointed in this interpretation of coop play, as now I have to repay stuff I already played to get caught up with my brothers game.. cause you know how much gamers living being forced to replay content.

Just an FYI. As the host, you can spawn 2 of the same vehicle. You can also buy a gun, drop it to your partner and then buy the same gun again. Once you buy a weapon, it's yours to grab infinitely for no extra cost.

This is how my girlfriend and I work around the issue.

We haven't noticed any issues with perks/talents being acquired though. After beating the first Lt. (John Seed) we both could access 3rd holster...

But I agree, if they added an option for shared progress, that'd be nice.

The guest player doesn't keep story progression but they do keep player progression, meaning they'll retain their items, perks upgrades, and money. These also transfer into the arcade mode.
You can also still use the shops and unlock weapons/vehicles as the guest player.

The story is dynamic and unfolds depending on how players progress in the game. Because of this, world progression in co-op is only saved for the host player, otherwise it would create narrative and game design inconsistencies.

.. at least make it, that BOTH players could be ANYWHERE on the map, the map isn't THAT big in my opinion !

Special if the Co-Op is using an airplane or heli it is terrible atm

    @FlashXAron

Your opinion as a developer that is aware of the system constraints as it applies to the engine in use, or your opinion as just some random gamer?

me and my wife were playing with her as the host. we tried having her buy a gun and dropping it for me. then i gave the gun back so she can use it and went to buy one of my own and it was still locked?

You can't unlock weapons though? Weapons that you have to get resistance points to unlock do not unlock for the guest players. You can drop weapons from the host but then the guest player can't customize or get this weapon on their own until they do the same missions on their own story mode. This is stupid because you can't unlock weapons as your playing with your friend throughout the story mode, and going through the game twice just to get guns is ridiculous.
