I'm talking about decorating every single interior, the way it should be, nit-picking every small detail. From photoframes to toilet paper, I am used to spend weeks on one map to make it enourmes and alive. The budget limit is way to small to do a thing like that, especially if you use items from loads of different themes and types. Why would these be "to large" or "to cluttered" if we were perfectly fine to make them like that in previous installments?Originally Posted by Kelvin-Zero Go to original post
I would like to be able to pass limitation. If i do that in far cry 4 i still can play map but cant publish it. And that is ok. Because i like to create my own world, not mp map. Very detailed world and very alive with lots of AI. Eye catching good looking thats all. That is my satisfaction. And i cant do that in your editor Ubi, i feel like poor kid in Disneyland. But hey its still very nice being in disneylandubi just cut these limitation ropes and let us enjoy major rides when we have already paid an entrance

In my personal opinion as a long-time level editor, I don't think these restrictions are too harsh--regardless the reasoning behind it. As map creators we have always had to consider the budget of a map--whether this be the number of prefabs used, scripts, resolution of texture, the engine we are working with...everything...the current editor for FC5 is more than sufficient in creating a map of any style. Limitation breeds creativity. Use that.Originally Posted by Vax_Merstappen Go to original post
If you absolutely need more freedom, I'd say learn Maya, Unreal Engine, Photoshop, and some code, and create your own game or MOD. Because seriously, if this massive and beautiful map editor isn't enough for you, you should be working at the pro level--and I encourage that.
I have this weird glitch happening with my first published map. In the editor, everything works flawlessly but when played in-game, the starting area's ground texture doesn't load in, some holes I added (to make a tunnel) suddenly reappears and gets in the way, enemies don't spawn in for some reason, etc.
I head back into the editor to see what's up and now it's telling me that my object budget has been exceeded. Problem is, I haven't exceeded my budget for anything at all and none of my grids are in the red either. Anyone know what's up with this? Maddening as hell.
I have to agree with the original statement. I think this map editor limits you way too much when there really isnt any reason it should.... I see no excuse for it. Yeah there's better editors out there with way more freedom, but that still doesn't explain to me why this one has to be such a pain. I have a decent map and I filled up a square in no time... Just wanting to add a few extra small details to one little area turns into a nightmare.... I really hope Ubi can fix it and give a little bit extra freedom.
I've had to stop working on a map I've been building for weeks because I absolutely cannot delete anymore lights, whereas before the patch my budget was around 80% or so, which I had planned accordingly to work with a few more rooms I needed to add. After the patch, it shot well above 100% without those added rooms I needed to make, so it's prevented me from working on it at the moment, which is a huge bummer.
Yup. I completely agree with the OP. Lose the budget and let us create to our system's potential--especially for solo play, which was possible in past versions via map testing! Creating cross-platform maps should be an option when starting a new map. Those mappers can use the budget. No problem. But for those of us who want to play a solo game with a 1000 bots, let us. Don't limit me to "mid range" when my rig (and this editor) can do so much more. If you're content with being limited by the lowest level of the batch, why even post here? The thread is to let Ubisoft know that there is a percentage of the fanbase that enjoyed the freedom the previous editors allowed, and we'd love to experience that again with all the new upgrades this editor has. One person's limitations or their opinion of what makes a decent map shouldn't be the cap for everyone else's creativity. Not to mention the ability to solo play over-budget maps has been possible in Far Cry 3 and 4! Why take that away in 5? I shouldn't have learn how to make a whole new game when this feature has been present in the past editors and was expected to be in this one. I can only hope they fix this soon. Until then, thank God for Nexus Mods.
I think this isn't a reduction of the Lights & VFX budget, the patch made it so the "[X] Lit" fixtures cost ~0.6% L&VFX each, as they're technically emitting an effect. While it will hurt the general look of light fixtures, you can get around this by switching out all "[X] Lit" props with their unlit versions. I absolutely hate this change and hope they undo it or greatly reduce the cost of the props, as before the change they caused no issues when I threw down enough of them paired with Omni and Spotlights to max out the budget bar.Originally Posted by OysterWallet Go to original post
