Suggestions to vastly improve planes as a playstyle
Planes:
- Planes should automatically (and maybe only temporarily) tag all allies and enemies it passes over. This would allow strafing runs to be done, as currently it's impossible to hit anything even with missiles because of how impossible it is to see anyone below, especially in outposts and forests.
- All ammunition should regenerate in planes, but not helicopters, as helicopters are far easier and more powerful, hopefully that would tip balance toward planes and allow for reasonable use of bombs and missiles.
- Weak automatic targeting for machine guns, to enable strafing to be done whilst allowing the player to focus on piloting the plane, rather than having to tunnel-vision the cultist ants and thus crash into a pylon.
- Make the fuselage and general health of the plane tougher, while allowing wings to be destroyed by LMGs etc. to give ways for NPCs/players ways to down an aircraft without immediately killing the pilot. Only explosives should be able to destroy the plane and pilot. Being whittled down by assault rifles isn't fun, but dodging rockets and other aircraft is.
- Separate, or at LEAST add the option to separate, yaw and roll axes. Right now, it's impossible to pull quick U-Turn or any kind of stunt (Even in Crash Nixon) because of how poorly the planes control, and it's not because of manoeuvrability - it's because of the controls.
- Allow an option to disable the auto-stabilising of the plane. If you wish to fly knife edge, or pull a fancy stunt between two towers or trees, it's pretty much necessary to give the player that control, rather than assuming they want to be flat.
What would also be useful is, with the separation of yaw and roll, put yawing onto Q and E, then instead of using E to exit the plane, you press E when stationary, or use another key to eject when moving.
