So there are several weapons like these in FC5 but I thought I'd ask about the magnums because they're the most obvious. So there are 3 magnums in FC5, unlocked at varying degrees of how far in you are. Question is- are they functionally any different? They have the exact same listed stats- is it purely a cosmetic thing?

They all have the exact same stats so I assume it is just cosmetic. Something of a shame since most of the guns in the game just seem to be reskins of the same few models.Originally Posted by ModestMaverick Go to original post
It's unfortunate they felt the need to put 5 (to be technical, if you count the standard version on top vs the L, Sixer, Cannon and then the Steel & Ivory premium on the bottom of the list). I would have liked to have seen a Beretta, maybe a Springfield, Bullet Tooth Tony's favorite, a Desert Eagle, and my personal favorite, a Smith&Wesson M&P...to name a few. Same goes for the other types of weaponry. Oh to be able to lean out of a truck and spray the peggies with a good ol' Tommy Gun! There's so many other kinds of guns to choose from, makes you wonder why they stopped short and gave you repetitions of the same gun over and over again. Same goes for melee. I could choose from 2 kinds of shovel (with the same stats), why not a pitch fork instead of the second? There's 2 lead like pipes (again, same stats), you could use a different metal... iron, a 3 iron, to be precise, instead of the other pipe! There's 3 kinds of baseball bats, though I'll give that they're different types and have small differences in things like handling, damage and Rate of Fire?! But again...there's bottles everywhere, why not a good old broken bottle? You could Indiana Jones it with a bull whip, wouldn't that be fun! How about a pool cue....heck, a pool BALL would make one hell of a throwable! Just saying, they sort of, no no...they TOTALLY dropped the ball on this one and not just the pool ball! Clothing functionally... I'm not going to go into that rant, because you'd think certain pieces with, say... chest armor already built into it, heavy clothes to show you but protect more vs lighter for faster, but not so great coverage...yeah that's a big argument in not going to put you through... at this distinct moment! 😈😆
They are all the same play wise, it is just cosmetic difference. Which makes one wonder since they all have the same stats why put them behind a progression wall? Why not give us the option to choose the one we like from the beginning? The fact they all have the exact same stats makes working for them meaningless. The same with all the other weapons, their stats are so similar it is meaningless except for personal preference. Why give me a 1911 that does 5 damage and then make me unlock a P226 that does 4 damage unless that is all it is, cosmetic preference. I just stick with the basic weapons you get at the beginning that you can find on every person in the game. I don't even buy vehicles, I just use what I find lying around or unlock through progression because they are all basically the same as well. I have over 150,000 dollars because I don't have anything I feel I need to spend it on except AP ammo and explosives. I don't even craft explosives or use the chemicals. Haven't ever seen the need to. Your dog spots for you so you don't need that and if you are stealthy you don't need shield or quickness or damage. Although to be said the damage one is fun sometimes to just punch bison and watch them fly, "HULK SMASH!!!!" Lol.Originally Posted by ModestMaverick Go to original post
Why even have different weapons in the game when everyone but you, the protagonist, uses the same ten weapons? The 1911, the .44 Snub, the M11, the shotgun, the AR-C, the AR-CL, the compound bow, the M60, the RPG, and the flamethrower.
I would really have liked to see more customization options to like laser sights which the enemy snipers get, and grip attachments to increase accuracy and handling. The whole thing feels like a slightly different version of FC3. So did FC4 but not as much because it was only one version away. But this is the second game from FC3 and everything feels the same. The plot and some weapons and stuff might be different but it all handles basically the same.
I mean Grace the sniper doesn't even get a better scope on her rifle, just a paint job different from the cultist snipers. She is supposed to be badass and been doing this for awhile now, she would have the best scope to go with the best rifle.
I love all the FC games but they need to innovate and update. It's the 21st century and you can still kill a guy by shooting him in the foot three times because he is hiding behind a truck, instead of shooting him in the foot and he falls down and you shoot his head. Every enemy has a certain number of shots to kill him with each weapon unless you hit his head.
You still can't get enemies rendered past 300m and even if they do the bullet magically "disappears" after about 250m. I shot at some cultists yesterday with the .50 sniper and they were 280m away. I had a dead bead on center mass and fired and they all turned and looked to the shot but didn't move. I thought I missed so I fired again and watched the tracer go right to the targets chest but the bullet disappeared before it go there. Totally negates the beautiful ranges you can possibly shoot from in the mountain regions since enemies only spawn so you can see them at about 300m and you can only shoot them at about 250m.
Hello there friend. You sound exactly like me. Farcry4 had a better and more diverse selection of weapons for sure. At least the prestige weapon in 4 were better than the generic ones.In 5 however there are a few distinct prestige weapons worth looking at that you can't get regular versions of: shovel launcher, D50, Vector .45, MG42. If you use SMG only bother with either the MP5 or MP5K and of course the Vector.
BP-2 prestige assault rifle is just slightly ****ty version of AR-C. Also the AK-MS is worth looking at if you want slightly better handling than the regular AK, but that's it. Both the AK-47 and AK-M are exactly the same just different skins. Man you are right this game has a lot of just reskinned weapons.
LOL, the only weapons needed and actually the best weapons in the game are the
M60...suppressed with site/scope of your preference.
Bow....recurve or compound is your choice.
.50 Cal sniper rifle suppressed...preferred is the semi-auto, but bolt can also work.
1911 suppressed with site of your choice.
Shovel...yeah a shovel
Thrown explosives.
Once you have these weapons, you have the best set in the game....Bows with explosive tips for choppers and planes. AP rounds for when you need a bit more ummph.... These basic guns will do anything you need in the game, as the easiest and most efficient.
But honestly, to finish all of this game, all your really need is the Bow, 1911, Shovels and thrown explosives, the other two just make it easier.
