Is Far Cry 5 co-op actually even co-op?

I don't actually think the Far Cry 5 co-op mode can be considered co-op, if me and my friend want to play the game together one of us will have to play through the entire game twice to unlock anything apart from character upgrades.

We didn't notice until 4 hours in that I hadn't unlocked a single weapon in the shop whilst he had unlocked several.
This is absolutely unacceptable in a CO-OP mode in 2018.

This on top of the many many bugs and glitches that keep happening in our playthrough.

Since I beat the game before doing co-op, I can't second the progress issue, but I can confirm that a few of our missions had to be restarted because the game wouldn't progress after a certain point.

I agree with you, playing co op is absolutely pointless at least for all invited players. I hope a patch will soon correct all that.
