Some general feedback about the Map Editor and Arcade
Saw a community rep has responded to threads, so hopefully this reaches the right eyes.
Just some things that could be improved, in my opinion
- Lobby system
This has been mentioned plenty of times before, but let us create private lobbies and start them with any number of players, and/or some sort of server browser, possibly even dedicated servers for PC?
- Weapon/Item + Vehicle Spawners in the Map Editor
Instead of having to place every weapon and item individually, an item spawner game object that lets you add items/weapons and an interval, then spawning randomly from its list would be awesome, this would give creators the opportunity to make more varied types of maps.
Same thing with vehicles, as of right now theres no way of incorporating vehicles into PvP as they don't seem to respawn and die very easily.
- Fully invincible Vehicles
While you can activate reckless driving, you can still blow them up with explosions.
- Scaling up objects / props
Unless I've missed an option for this, there is no way to change the scale of anything
- More gameplay modes for PvP and increasing the player amount for PvE Coop
this is a big one. Theres a lot of possible modes for PvP such as Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, race modes, last man standing, ..
PvE could use an increase of players, even up to 4 would be a great start.
- Support for Triggers, scripting, fine control of gameplay flow
This might go too far and understandably would be extremely taxing to be implemented, but would open up the gates to unlimited types of gameplay - Race maps, jumping maps, puzzle maps.. one only has to look at Super Mario Maker and the Little Big Planet series to see how amazingly creative people can get.
In general the options for PvE maps right now don't seem to be very open.In Assault we're unable to have more than 5 waves and no timers, so no possible zombie/horde maps, or a survival type of map, Outpost is basically the same thing. Journey seems like a good start for more open and creative maps but would be great if theres was other types of "goals" than reaching an exit. Possibly use an object, destroy an objective, have multiple checkpoints, ..
In general being able to use concepts from multiple game modes together would go a long way already
The tools to create the geometry of levels is amazing though, the snapping is a bit hard to use and doesn't seem straight forward. but the approach akin to a 3D modelling program works very well, and I'm so glad theres an option to spawn batches of trees instead of having to put in every one by hand.
I'm sure theres more things I've had in my head so I might just add things over time.
