I highly doubt I'm a star player, but I have been making maps since Predator. The current "lobby" system is absolute hot garbage. Why would they make a fantastic editing software (which they have- it's great!), and then not let people create lobbies to play on it with friends unless they bring in their own private group of 6+ people. Why make it so you constantly get thrown in with randoms and all of you get 5 seconds to decide what map you're going to download and play. It's infuriating. On top of that I seem to have connection issues with downloading some of the maps and then the group I'm with gets broken up and I'm thrown to the main menu.
I was going to try and get all of my friends to buy this game to play with, but if we're just taking in the PvP multiplayer experience into account it's incredibly difficult to recommend.
Thanks for opening this dialogue on the lobby system, I'd love to hear more player opinions and thoughts!
I've moved it to General but left a redirect in the Map Editor section, so both subs can share their feedback!Originally Posted by CuteCucksClan Go to original post![]()
Love the map editor, the basic lobby leaves much to be desired.
Some thoughts:
1. Allow the user to pick the map they will start the lobby with. If they do this, they'll have to wait for the lobby to be filled.
2. Allow the user to disable join in progress.
3. Allow the user to set game types to appear. If I only want to play deathmatch, and team death match, I should be able to filter those lobbies.
4. Allow any number of players in a private match. This is critical for private matches and testing of maps.
5. Allow a playlist to be created. So a map maker could make a sequence of maps to be played.
6. Properly track the community edits of maps. I downloaded a great coop map, bunker something, and then edited it to be a deathmatch map and republished it. But it's showing me as the original author, which I am not.
Not sure I should start a new thread about this or not.
