    User maps ratings

How the heck do some of these maps get 3 stars ratings!
One was just some snow, a couple of buildings and some cars. The mountains were not even textured or shaped, just mounds.
I've discarded much better maps than that.
I know some of the mappers are young and are at least trying but who is rating them so highly?
Seems you can't go by the ratings anymore.

The rating system is hugely flawed. For one, it makes no sense for a map with 100% upvotes to be anything less than 5 stars (I'm pretty sure it's actually impossible to have a 5 star rating with this system). The other major issue is that most players are not mappers, and will upvote anything that they did well on.

I would guess the new maps start at 2,5 and either go up or down based on ratings. So if it continues to get 100% positive rating it should go up to 5, and same as its receiving more likes than dislikes.
I would guess it is like this to prevent new maps to start off with a very negative rating affecting it negatively and cause noone to even test it.

As for the rating itself, yes. Sadly there's too many who votes based on personal progress over the quality of the map itself. Both ways, if the map is good and someone did very poorly they might hit dislike because they are frustrated with how it went. And as you mentioned the other way around aswell. Hopefully there's more people voting based on their fondness of the map itself than the other though.

Really well designed maps tend to, from what I've seen. Rise in rating eventually. But I'm sure there's a few diamonds hidden because of underexposure as well sadly.

Ratings mean nothing due to the way they are rated.

I see the Ubi maps are on like 1 star.

Ratings are mostly based on game-play and whether the map was fun to play. A beautiful well crafted map has little to do with ratings. If you want higher ratings you have to make the map to appeal to a wider audience. Meaning, give the "players" what they want... not so much what you personally like.

I'm tempted to create a map that's literally just a big empty room with lots of weapons, call it something like "KILL ROOM" and see how quickly it goes to the top of the ratings.

I feel like I wish I could get some feedback on my maps I am by no means a professional mapper but my maps are by no means Bland, flat and boring. I'm still learning the editor and my maps will only get better as they go. I'm just past the new update and it seems like every map I make gets lower and lower ratings. My very first map is almost a four star map, the final star is not quite fully filled in. I wish I knew what I could do to make my maps better or more appealing. Are they too hard, are they too easy, are people not finding the hidden weapons I have laying around, are there not enough explosions....

If you are on PS4 I will gladly take a look.

Or if not, post a video or screenshots. After 30 years playing MP maps I believe I'm entitled to a fair opinion of them.
