HORSES!! My lord it pissed me off when they excluded horses. What is odd is that it looked like they were supposed to be in game, but something must have happened and they scrapped them (they prob also didn't want to compete and be compared with the upcoming RDR2, which people were already doing).

In one interview a Dev said that there would be horses and then poof, they were gone from the game and never mentioned again. I am not a fan of companies holding back things to add them later in DLC, but horses (along with some other things of course) I would totally pay a bit extra for.

You are in this big beautiful world and sometimes I just think "Man, wouldn't it be so cool to explore this galloping on the back of a horse?".....It is honestly the thing that annoys me most, especially due to it's setting. I lived in Montana for quite a while and I even had a horse. There are even groups of BLM Mustangs there. Hopefully they will add it in, I doubt it, but I can hope

Haha, yea, I think they were originally in game and were scrapped. Even in an interview, a Dev said that there would be horses.

    • No dedicated button for holstering weapons on console.
    • The blue health circle that hovers above wounded comrades (or red ones over cult leaders). I have my interface all turned off, why do I get these?
    • Enemy / predatory animal spawn rate way too high
    • Bobbing hands in view when sprinting (so cheesy)
    • No ability to go prone
    • Binoculars don't zoom in far enough
    • Bliss zombies
    • The fact that raccoons and skunks are practically impossible to kill with anything other than a bazooka (alright, a slight exaggeration, but seriously, just die you MF!)
    • All the supernatural crap (Faith / sparklies / voices etc)

trippy drug missions, forced captures, and horribly designed main-story missions...the FREE-roam and the gameplay and world are second to NONE

Seems a lot of people bring up a dislike for the drug inspired/supernatural kind of activities in the game.

It has been ages since I played 1 or 2, but I honestly don't remember a Far Cry that didn't have some semblance of a "drug-fueled" story arc at some point or another. Am I wrong on this?

I certainly don't remember any in 1 or 2, but like yourself it's been a long long time. I think drugs played a part in 3 and 4 as you say, but I don't recall it being as 'in your face' as it is with this one. Just seems out of place to me. They've gone for realism and all these voices and hallucinations break the immersion for me.

Yea, 3 is the freshest in my mind, despite 4 and Primal being more recent...I guess I just really, really, really, liked FC3 (Vass) so it sticks in my memory.

Personally, I really enjoy the trippy/drug induced scenes for the artistic nature and break from wanton murder...but I completely respect the opinion of someone that isn't enjoying it.

I just feel like it's one of the staples of this franchise for some reason, but as I said - it has been a LONG time since playing 1 or 2 that I may be incorrect on that.

Did some fishing earlier (it was a side mission) but despite having my interface settings to 'All off', the button controls are there floating in front of you the whole time you're fishing.

Maybe Ubi forgot to include these in the HUD options, but that's the immersion during fishing pretty much ruined. And it was one of the pastimes I was really looking forward to partaking in, too, once I'd liberated the island.

The help menu tells you how to fish (man, I think even I could have worked it out for myself with a bit of random button pressing) but no, I have to stare at Instructions For the Hard of Understanding the whole time.

Technically, FC2 started it off with the malaria/medication stuff, but it was very small. Now you have about 10 hours of gameplay dedicated to it. But I liked the Faith story arc a lot, you're never sure of what actually happened and what was real and what not (even though some of the notes you find around the map give clues). Really digging that.

Too many dream/drug sequences. This plot device should have been RETIRED for some actual creative content.

Being summarily snatched out of game play by poorly implemented and completely unbelievable "magic bullets", "magic arrows", and visions; only to end up "somewhere else" listening to an overly long NPC exposition to back fill the story, back fill the NPCs story, develop the NPCs character, sick puppy quotient, viciousness quotient, etc, and/or having to play the same repetative "game" over and over to be able to get back to the game I WAS immersed in.

Not much weapon selection. This is especially baffling and egregious as though it isn't perfect, Ubi made great strides in this area in GRW. Given Ubi's penchant for taking elements of one franchise and migrating it (with a little make over or repurposing) to another---they could easily have stepped up FCs game with the addition of the GRW weapon variety and accessory system (e.g. being able to swap out suppressor and scopes in the field--that's what rail systems are for).

Two ****** endings that are a figurative **** you to us fans. No matter how you played it; how well you played it, what choices you made; two ****** endings ensures it was all for nothing. On top of that aspect; this is another recycled tired (and should have been RETIRED) plot device from FC 2 and 3 which was strongly disliked by the fan base then. No need to learn from their mistakes I guess. If there had been in game choices available to us as the player character that allowed our subversion to the cult; a bad ending for the other Hope County NPCs would have been a logical extension of that plot line.

While gaming (especially FPS/action gaming) is an inherent suspension of disbelief; the opening cut scene plot defies belief. No matter how rural; it's completely incredulous any group of LE Professionals would be that stupid, tactically inept, and cavalier about their own and the cultists safety. Only to be followed by the recycled "Escape From Vass' Compound Two" sequence. Priceless, and another plot device that should have been RETIRED and not reused.

Having to engage in even more unbelievable, incredibly stupid, and incompetent actions to advance the game (e.g. Walking into church to meet John Seed after he tells you he wants to meet). Scripted this stupid; the player character should NOT have survived the game. This is another figurative **** you to us. No matter how aware you are to NOT handle this situation in such a fashion; we're making you do it to progress in the game.

Maybe Jacob Seed isn't the only one conditioning us?
