The ending is bloody awful. I don't really expect much of a story to a video game, but this story is poorer than usual. I could have put up with an ending where your character defeats the Chief Baddie but has to lose almost everything to do it. This one -- the character loses everything. Period.
    Yech....

That's exactly what I was thinking. Makes it feel like I just wasted many hours of helping folks. At least Voss and Pagan Min got what was coming to them! Still a cool experience but Damn

It really boggles the mind that some game developers think us gamers want fun at the cost of zero story fulfilment. I prefer hands down the secret ending now since A. I wouldnt have wasted much time B. everyone was still technically alive C. I might have got a refund then.

Is it too much to ask for an ending that's at least on par with good movies/books? Why does it have to be utter tripe? If i saw this ending in a movie I would have been annoyed and yet it still would have been less a waste of money.

Also last time i was this annoyed was Mass Effect 3's ending and the devs still said it was their art and basically said screw you to the fans (yes there was the extended slide show of basically no player agency and ignoring your major story choices and making it so you lost if you tried to kill the stupid starchild)

I place my faith with CDPR roll on Cyberpunk!

It's not that you spent the whole game trying to kill him and now you can't, you spent the whole story blind with the sin of pride. And at the end Jospeh wasn't some crazy cult leader, he predicted the nuclear fall out, he didn't cause it, and he predicted it because he actually did know the word of god the whole time, he knew of the impending doom and he is actually not some crazy murderer cult leader, he's Jesus.
Actually he was a crazy cult leader whether or not he was right. He's Jesus? Then it's only right we nail this psychopathic messiah to a cross

This game is one of the best open world games I have played in long time with it's massive map and opportunities for multiple mission approaches but in the end none of it matters it seems. The endings give absolutely no drive to all the hours I put into it to only have it A. Change nothing with Joseph being in charge with all my "friends" under the Bliss, and B. Having every living organism in 100 miles of Hope County being atomized even after all the side quests and people you rescue. TL;DR: No reason to finish the game as it's a "House always Wins" situation with you being the Courier to only be killed or captured.

I was going to suggest that the writers need serious therapy and anti-depressants

I play on a PC and I've played through twice selecting the two different options for the final choice; like all of you I was extremely disappointed in the two endings. Like a lot of the previous comments stated, I usually expect to be rewarded after spending several days playing a game, jumping through all of the engineer's hoops and successfully threading my way through all of the corridors. But after experiencing the two dismal endings to this game I believe the entire staff of Ubisoft is clinically depressed. It must be a Generation X/Millenial thing (which is the generation of the engineers putting together these games) that they just can't bring themselves to write a "happily ever after" scenario.

Far Cry 2 had two satisfying endings you could either stay behind to sacrifice yourself and give the refugees time to escape (which I still survived and followed the trail of the refugees until the credits started), or you let the dying arms dealer sacrifice himself and you lead the refugees to safety. Far Cry 3 you could choose to be a total *** hat and kill your brother and friends (that you just spent the entire game rescuing) or you can go home with your brother and friends, nice. Far Cry 4 the ending was a little strange because throughout the entire game you have to side with either a religeous fanatic/potential pedophile or a cartel Matron wannabe, but you can grab the RPG and take out the bloodthirsty psychopath you've been fighting throughout the entire game, so that part was satisfying.

Now with Far Cry 5 (Like Mass Effect 3 from Bioware/Origin) you have the choice of two separate endings that suck. You're either locked in a bomb shelter for who knows how long with the sociopath that you want to kill or you kill your boss (does someone on their staff have authority issues?) "presumedly" while on the way to get re-inforcements to do the job properly, like it should have been done in the first place. Like Mass Effect 3 I will probably keep playing this game when I fell like a good shoot 'em up, but like Mass Effect 3 I will stop and start over again before the final confrontation. Why play something that just frustrates you?

Seriously, the writers at Ubisoft need to up their meds and cheer up.

If you play those game only for shooting, then why do you care so much about the ending?
