I find paying £39 per year for xbox live great value for money. people can spend that on a meal for two and drinks on a 2 hr evening out or £20+ for a couple to watch a movie at the cinema. when you compare it with other things in life it's great value every day for a whole year. it's well worth the money, and at some point in the near future 3 - 5 years most games will require xbl gold to play even the solo campaigns. nothing can stop the direction it's going in, ALL online.
To me this is coming off as a blatantly ignorant. Yeah, maybe paying for the membership is worth it to YOU, but there are millions of other gamers out there (many of which don't play any online games). You are completely ignoring the fact that Ubisoft is pay-gating single player features (which never were before), for god knows what reason. I'm glad you're OK with games going all online in the future, but many of us definitely aren't. So please don't try to speak for us.Originally Posted by AW LOST SOLDIER Go to original post
Here are the PS4 games I've personally played (and own) over the past couple years, please tell me when you see a game that requires (or even has) online:
Far Cry Primal, Skyrim, GTA san andreas, The Witcher 3, AC Origins, Fortnite, God of War, and FC5 obviously.
If you can't tell. I usually don't play online at all, so why on earth would I pay $60-100 a year for it. I don't even want to use MP features.
Also going to point out that even Fortnite is free to play now; meaning they (Epic games or whoever) were able to get Sony to approve of their 100 person battle royale mode becoming accessible to everyone. Ubisoft couldn't even get their SP features to not get locked behind a paywall. Shows how little they fight for or actually care about their gamer base. The reason I bought this game in the first place was the editor (I loved 4 on the PS3). The prospect of limitless games made by dedicated gamers to me made the $60 price tag worth it. Now I just feel deceived and ripped off. Haven't touched the game in over a month, and I really wish that wasn't the case. Sorry Ubisoft, but this decision lot you a customer.
You are free to hop on the Arcade website, add maps to your Favorites and then edit/play them solo in the editor.
No PS Plus required for that.
Also, the various Arcade posters throughout the campaign seem to start random (Featured?) maps. One could potentially use my MapSwapper project to override the map loaded by the "random" choice to still somewhat have a say in which maps get downloaded.
I'd also add that playing a map within the editor is not the same as playing it outside the editor - you're limited to three of everything instead of the six max you can normally carry. I presume the thinking for this is that if you can complete the map on lessened throwables/medicals then you're good to go, though it still seems a little odd to me. This is on a PS4 by the way, don't know if this restriction is true for PCs.
