when i have started playing FC5 i was on the fence to do a post here too, i was thinking exactly the same as you to the M+KB plane controls, but with time, you start to make it easy, now i can fly very precisely , you just need some more training, or pass the first race event with a gamepad if you are in trouble, and after in the game, you will be fine with M+KB when you will be more suit with the handling without the checkpoint and time presure

As a note, the classic control scheme is for controller only on PC. If you are playing M&K you are stuck with default binding of the yaw and roll linked.
Honestly, I would almost rather the mouse do the plane control and hit a button to look, similar to the way it is handled in choppers...

Person in Ubisoft who set keyboard + mouse control for the Plane should be fired
After 3 day of trying I'm not even close to finish this stupid mission. I gave up, this mission is completely impossible to finish with broken K+M controls.

Controls for Plane should be the same as for Helicopter. I don't want and need to move my head with mouse. I need to move my Plane with mouse !!!!

Couldn't agree more with I.z.i - loving the game so far part form the stupid "can't leave" the race missions until you complete them and you can't complete them cos the cars don't act as if real physics exists, and of course trying to fly is the stupidest thing in the world - you think they would have learnt something from Ghost Recon Wildlands were you also can't fly.

PLEASE let them know this is not just on PC. Console should also have a control option that makes sense like left stick for elevator (pitch) & ailerons (roll). ......like a real plane is naturally controlled. Bumpers could be for rudder as most would expect (since right stick is for free look).

The way the devs have it set up now makes no sense at all. If they feel it does, I sure would like to hear their explanation. ......but would still plead for them to fix it.

I'm having the same problem, no matter which keys I set for the plane controls, it's impossible to control.
The helicopter can be controlled nose up/down, so why can't the plane?
    This needs fixing asap please.

You can also tap your A and D keys in a high frequency if you only want horziontal left or right movement, the plane will not go into a banking maneuver that way as it tries to level itself out constantly, same applies to controller, if you move the left thumbstick slightly to the left or right only the rudder will respond, you can make easier turns this way.

Another way for more control over the plane might be binding the plane controls like this:

First video with those keyboad controls

And a xbox controller video showing you left and right rudder movement with little rolling maneuvers:

This might help as a workaround, I would love to see mouse control in the future too though.
