Just to step in: Necroing old threads is frowned upon, especially since the discussion may be out-dated. It is better to make a new thread, especially if the thread you are necroing is over a year old.

I've been using internet forums for twenty years and I've hardly seen an issue when people reply to an old thread so long as its content is relevant and contains at least a couple of paragraphs. Duplicating threads however, will most likely get a member rapidly shot down.

Perhaps lock or delete threads if you don't want people to reply to them.

    Agree.

I've been a forum owner for many years, and I've never understood why people complain about posting in old threads as long as the reply is on topic. What harm does it do?

On my forum, what I did was install a system (forum modification) where if you post in an old thread you get a polite message warning you that it's an old thread and you should consider posting a new one unless your post is directly relevent to the old topic.

This seems to keep everyone happy.

Anyway, I love the fishing in FC5. I personally only use the 2nd rod (natural fishing rod). I mainly do this because I find 'wonderboy' and 'old betsy' to make the fishing a bit too fast/easy. I prefer a bit of a challenge, just as with real fishing.
