This is my first Far Cry game. The flight/driving controls are the worst I've ever seen. Is it really that hard to make it easy to do like GTA5 or any other game with cars/planes? I don't want to drive or fly anywhere, because it's so frustrating. Being along a road is ridiculous too, because you get ambushed every 10 seconds. The enemies spawn way too much.

I too will never be the red Baron of Far Cry.
    The flight controls are TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It took me 15 tries to finish the John story line. For those who are stuck and can't kill him
I called in Nick Rye and just flew around trying to look cool and Nick ended up downing
    John's plane for me

I've struggled to fly the plane & I've just about got it usable but i wish I could use the mouse instead of tapping keys for elevation etc

I agree with the statements from the posters above me. The Aircraft controls need to be addressed. I too have a Joystick here, but unfortunately there is no support for that... neither is there support for Track IR. When I fly a Machine such as the one I got from getting rid of John Seed, then I need the Aircraft to react on command. As an experienced WW 2 Flight Simulator Pilot, I was horrified when I first got into an Aircraft.

The Dogfights in the Air are... simply awful. I simply cannot perform an Immelman or other Maneuvers I am used to. Also there are no option to customize the Convergence or pick Incendiary Ammo... just to name a few examples. Please Ubisoft, you need to take a look at your aircraft mechanics. I cannot bomb proberly, as I cannot conduct a Dogfight. Boom and Zoom is not an Option either and also therre is no possibility to use the Altitude to my advantage.

Please Ubisoft, take a look at your Aircraft Mechanics, because in the current state...I cannot see myself flying an Aircraft in FC 5.

    Hey Guys,
First post here. I had a terrible time with the plane, ...UNTIL I realized I could map the fire function to the keyboard. I use the nav keys at the bottom of the keyboard with left hand and was firing with right hand/left mouse button. As mentioned above, could not keep sight reticle centered, especially when things got heated. So I mapped Fire to a numpad key for my right hand and don't use the mouse at all for dogfights. Still took a least two dozen tried to Destroy the Chosen Aircraft, but it finally worked. Sights stay in the center of screen and all you have to worry about is flying. Hope this helps someone, it sure did help me. Later...

XPadder allows for the use of any joystick. Just assign the proper WASD to the stick movements,

I want Pitch and Yaw on my Mouse. Roll on A&D. Keep Guns and Rockets on M1&2 and give me an alternate button for Freelook
Or HOTAS support would be nice

With FC5 their car controls actually feel improved but their aircraft are completely wonky. The plane would be tolerable if the controls made sense as others have pointed out. .....assign the damn rudder (yaw) to the bumpers and make the left stick control the elevator and ailerons (pitch and roll).

The helo is "ok" until you realize that you can control the angle of attack while direction of travel is completely unaffected. ....in other words you can pitch the nose down in a hover (for example) and the helo doesn't move. Normally pitch would change with the direction of travel.

....really wonky. Whoever consults or designs these controls and physics really should get out more and play some other popular games to understand what a decent setup is like.
Not going to lie, dude. I love the ground vehicle controls on this game. Only thing I'd improve is stick and trigger deadzone reduction (console). Aircraft are trying to identify as spacecraft.

Most definitely. If I had to give Ubi an award for most improved aspect in their games it would have to go to their vehicle (car) controls and physics. ....keeping in mind this is all relative but at least now they are more enjoyable than past games of theirs IMO.

    I agree.
    Vehicle Control Assessment:
Car, Truck, Semi, Quad = Great
    Jetski & Boat = Great
Helicopter = Good, but not authentic. Still controllable and fun.
    Airplanes = Terrible
Wingsuit = * OK (changing my opinion after messing with the wingsuit more)
Parachute = It works. Its a Parachute what do you want.
