Choppers have been okay on console, but I don't think switching yaw and pitch will do much unless you're talking about classic mode. Then, a thousand times yes!

spray n pray troll mission - WSAD implementation failure

I already posted about this in another thread so I'll just say here I'm with you on these wsad airplane controls. I tried the Spray and Pray mission for 90 minutes in a fail and repeat loop where the only way out is ALT-F4. That cheese-rock song has engraved itself onto my skull.

Ubisoft has always had issues with their vehicle controls and physics in their games whether it's Far Cry, GRW or Watch Dogs. While they may have been closer at some points than others, they never felt or reacted "right" IMO.

With FC5 their car controls actually feel improved but their aircraft are completely wonky. The plane would be tolerable if the controls made sense as others have pointed out. .....assign the damn rudder (yaw) to the bumpers and make the left stick control the elevator and ailerons (pitch and roll).

The helo is "ok" until you realize that you can control the angle of attack while direction of travel is completely unaffected. ....in other words you can pitch the nose down in a hover (for example) and the helo doesn't move. Normally pitch would change with the direction of travel.

....really wonky. Whoever consults or designs these controls and physics really should get out more and play some other popular games to understand what a decent setup is like.

Helicopters are GREAT to fly on PC with KB/M
    Planes completely SUCK
I really want to fly the planes and dogfight, but NO WAY with these controls.
    Worst Ever!

It bugs me that just to the right in the Background pic, there are two Planes dogfighting, ------->

I use a joystick using the XPadder program, and it's still too hard to fly. And drive. I'm going to see about somehow turning down the sensitivity.

Helis can actually adjust their rotor angles which allows them to maintain altitude and pitch the nose down. It's not super inaccurate.

I think they do. They changed the flight controls for Wildlands after many had issues with them and those weren't nearly as bad. They've just got other fish to fry right now, and I have no problem with them dealing with more pressing issues first.

I agree. The Helicopter is a delight to fly on Xbox but...........

Let's not forget folks, It is extremely unrealistic.

The Helicopter will move forwards when you tell it to and will move backwards when you tell it to, regardless of pitch angle, which obviously is NOT how helicopter flight works. However, and it is a big however, it is possible to alter the pitch angle of FC5's helicopter but without any effect on the flight characteristics. I find myself altering the pitch angle of the helicopter to simulate what happens to a helicopter in real flight (which is really stupid, totally uneccessary, but helps provide immersion for me)

I wish Ubisoft would alter the controls to match great sims like the Battlefield 4 sim (I appreciate that BF4's sim is nothing like real world flight) It is a lot closer to the real thing than FC5.

Sorry. I didn't read the last five posts before writing this.

I understand that how changing the AOA of the main rotor is how helos fly forward, backward and side to side depending in the direction the cyclic is moved and naturally the fuselage reacts accordingly by pitching forward for example. .....and collective is used in conjunction to maintain altitude.

However, what I don't get is this magic control Ubi added to independently adjust the pitch of the fuselage nose up and nose down independent of the cyclic since it has no effect on movement. You literally can adjust the AOA of the airframe drastically up or down in a hover.

To be quite honest, the controls in BF4 and GTAV are represented more realistically than this. .....cyclic, collective and antitorque pedals. The physics are also represented much more accurately in those games IMO. What we have in FC5 is really wonky by comparison.

    Cliffy is absolutely right.
