Hey vreid66, the Xbox 360 controller isn't supported officially. Apologies!
"Hey vreid66, the Xbox 360 controller isn't supported officially. Apologies!"
Shouldn't the line from the reported controllers list:
Supported gamepads:
Microsoft Xbox One Controller
DUALSHOCK 4 Controller
XInput gamepads
cover ANY Xinput gamepad, including the xbox 360 pad?
I have a Logitech F310 AND a Logitech F710 pad, both are Xinput and Direct input capable via a selection switch,
and neither one will work AT ALL without the assistance of Steams Controller emulation, and even then the
D-Pads do not get recognized at all.
Ubisoft, I believe, failed miserably with controller support on this title. MANY people are having issues using controllers.
see here for x360 controller workaround. D-pad is still broken though. https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.ph...1#post13407566
For now, I have my Logitech F310 pad set up using Steam's Big Picture interface, and have assigned the popper keyboard keys to the D-Pad for commanding the Guns/Fangs for hire, throwing rocks, and using my binoculars.
It is NOT ideal, as I still have to reach over to the keyboard and mouse to select different throwable weapons, plus there is NO assignment available on the gamepad for De-celerate in a vehicle/plane, and no assignment for descend in a helicopter, so still have to use keyboard for those as well.
Was so happy to finally be able to play, jumped into the first helicopter I found because my target destination was so far way, so flying will be much faster.
Can you imagine haw hard it is to land a helicopter when there is NO button to descend? I ended up having to pause the game, look up the correct keyboard key for "descend", and was finally able to land the damn thing, about 100 yards away from where I wanted to, nearly crashed it in the process!
I understand also from reading other threads, that even though the "work around" to get the d-pad working for X-box one controllers helps, even X Box One controllers still have NO button assignment for De-celertae/descend.
I honestly can not remember when it was the last time I had to use ANY sort of "fix" or "emulator" to get an Xinput capable gamepad to work in ANY game as every game I own over the past 8 to 10 years has had native Xinput support, and allowed for switching from gamepad to keyboard/mouse "on the fly", if needed, without any need for ANY changes at all.
This really should be a top priority, in my opinion. I'd imagine there are quite a few PC gamers using some sort of gamepad, even if it is ONLY for the vehicle portions, as it is better on a gamepad.
