Sorry for all the cursing. This game has stressed me out!
So far, playing FC5 has been nothing but stressful and problematic. I haven't died this many times in any game EVER, and I have resorted to now play on easy and my deathcount is still spiraling out of reality.
I have no problem with a game being hard, but when it's not the difficulty that is the problem, then there's no reason to play the game, as it just causes stress.
So, what is the problem?
Well, to start with, the hired "helpers", who help the enemy more than me, as they will do just about anything possible to annoy the **** out of me or in some way get me killed. How? By constantly blurting out irrelevant **** like: "Stop the vehicle, we're here.", when you haven't set a waypoint to anywhere or aren't going to a questlocation. Or they stop in front of me when I try to walk through a door and just stay there, untill I shoot them or tell them to move the **** over (Yes, there at least is a solution). Or they push me out of cover, when I try to hide from enemies, so now I'm spotted and can't take a place sneaky. Oh, and they sometimes steal the vehicle I just got out of and then drive away to who knows where, leaving me stranded. The list goes on forever with weird ****. Go figure
Then there's the local population of pea-brains (the "friendly" NPC's), having some sort fetish for vehicles, but not the IQ or any kind of anatomical motorsskills to operate any type of vehicle. I have been killed at least 20 times by these ****turds, after they got into a car and tried to go somewhere, just to end up running me over for no reason. So, if I see a car, or any other vehicle, and a civilian is nearby, I RUN the **** away. They WILL also steal your car if they get the chance, once you've exited it, which leads to your death!!!
You can also talk to most civilians and get a nice little story about something, or a location to a prepper stash or sidequest or something else. IF THEY WEREN'T IN ****ING COMBAT WITH EVERY GOD DAMN ENEMY ON THE ENTIRE MAP ALL THE ****ING TIME. So, I have to go kill 97873497856345876 Enemies, before the civilian are finally out of combat and can then tell me their sob story or whatever else.
Standing around in a location, only populated with "friendlies"... Well, after having killed off all enemies in miles reach, so they aren't in combat with everything, now come their time to shine on how awesom... **** NO. Now they are even more annoying, as they ALL talk, trying to get my attention about **** they HAVE to tell me. All shouting away, making it just a blur of gibberish (this is not a problem with only 2 or less "friendlies"). Imagine standing in a field with 98745987 people yelling at you, that's how it is in this game, after for example having taken over a place from the cultists and the "friendlies" move in. 5-10 people constantly congratulating me, themselves (why? they didn't o ****!) and asking/telling me about other stuff, all at the same time.
Then there's the enemies themselves (I'm starting to think everybody is an enemy, with how this game is).
I spot an enemy vehicle, while on the side of a road, so I aim my weapon and shoot the bastard driving, his buddy jumps out and starts exchanging bullets with me. Classic FPS game so far. Then another enemy vehicle approaches with 2 more cultists as I kill of the second one. They naturally want to help out their buds and engage me aswell. Then another enemy vehicle approaches... And so on and so on, untill they have killed me. A few times I have managed to keep this going up to having about 50 cultists going crazy.
Sooo... This is not a FPS game. It is an open world tower defence game, or???
Kill 1 enemy, 2 more spawns... OOOOOHHH, I get it... HAIL HYDRA!!!
The first 1 hour, after getting off the first Island, I just stood on a field with appletrees, enemies kept spawning, I kept killing, getting killed, respawned nearby, repeat. I couldn't leave the area, as the enemies just killed me, making me respawn same place. This kept going untill having killed enough VIP cultist to earn me enough resistance points for the first hunting party, or whatever it was called. They got to me and put me through another story part, which must have been way to early in the game, because a lot of places had been magically liberated by me after this, even though I havent done anything but kill, get killed, respawn, repeat.
Soooooooooooo, yea... This game sucks!!! Games are meant to entertain, not cause stress!!!
Oh yea, I forgot about the scopes...
Are they only x2 or x4 for the biggest??? I might aswell stick an empty tincan on my rifles and they'd do a better job at being a scope
And what is up with the planes constantly spawning right over me, spotting me instantly when I'm trying to sneak up on enemies? This completely ruins ANY sneaking in the game.
Trying to get a pistol takedown... Not possible. When I finally manage to sneak up on enemies without getting spotted by the magically appearing planes ( which is only possible 1 out of 983745 times), the pistol takedown button doesn't activate the pistol takedown, no matter what I do.
And why the HELL are there so many suicidal civilians out there? I can't drive by civilians, without them running out on the road, trying to get in front of my car. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
I just realized, that a lot of the game completes itself because you build up the resistance, so you play half a game and the game plays itself for the other half part. It is a REALLY ****ING STUPID game machanic you have implemented there, with getting resistance points, forcing you through the story faster than you actually complete the game. Half the outposts gets cleared because of you getting resistance points so fast, just by standing at a road killing the endless enemy spawns and then forces you through some story mode each time you have earned a set amount of points, making you go to the end "boss" of the region you're in much faster than you actually play through it.
REMAKE THIS STUPID GAME!!!
My experience... pretty much the exact opposite. The only times I ever come close to death (on normal) is if I kill myself by messing around. And it isn't because I'm "so good". The game makes it hard to die.
Sneaking and hiding is easy in this game. Most of the time you can simply crouch and move close and they can't see you. You can get crazy close without being detected. Close enough to headshot for insta-kills. And if you are detected you just sprint a little and they lose you.
The fact you can sprint a few yards away and sit behind a tree and regain you health fast (even without a health pack) makes it hard to die...unless you simply refuse to take cover.

Seriously though, dealing with the locals and the Ai is part of the difficulty...
(and that's kind of where we are with AI I guess)
I quite like homies who 'revive themselves'.
OMG thanks for the laugh. I have at times felt the SAME THING! My roommate has never heard me yell at a game ever and is like WHO ARE YOU right now, why are you cursing/screaming at your computer?
This is probably one of the most challenging games I've played in a long time. This game can be VERY frustrating if you've never played a Far Cry game or aren't super familiar with how certain mechanics work or very familiar with FPS's in general (coming from the mmo/rpg world certain things within the FPS universe took a bit of adjustment for me.)
Sometimes the frustration level reaches 1,000 .. and you just have to walk away for a bit, look up tips/tricks online/youtube and try again.
I've learned so much in this game and overcome so many challenges I thought were IMPOSSIBLE at first. A lot of it comes down to learning I was well.. doing it wrong.
But the challenge CAN be fun, once you overcome it. It's good to stretch your limits sometimes, it's how you get better.
Don't give up, keep trying!
I feel your pain man.
My biggest issue is that the enemy spawning is entirely out of control. There are just too many enemies coming from too many directions at all times no matter where you are or what you are doing. Trying to stealth through any area is a lesson in pure stress and frustration. More often than not, I'll scope out and mark all enemies at an outpost but when I go to make my move, some random enemy has now spawned in the backwoods behind me, has seen me, is shooting at me, the outpost is now at attention, alarms are going off, and more cultists are on their way. OR, as you stated, one of those godd**n planes shows up, spots me through thick tree cover OR EVEN WHEN I'M HIDING INSIDE A BUILDING, and everything has gone to s**t once again.
Also, in past FarCry games (3 & 4) when you liberated an outpost or an area, enemy presence in that area would lessen a bit, which gave you a sense of completion and progression, like you were actually making a difference in that game world and slowly taking it over. In Far Cry 5 however, that doesn't seem to be the case. Enemy spawns and overall presence doesn't seem to be affected at all except in that exact outpost spot; in fact it actually seems to INCREASE in some cases with the addition of more trucks, druggies, and airplanes. The world is just out of control.
The resistance points forcing you through the story when you're not ready to move on is also a crazy and unwelcome mechanic.
The NPC's and helpers are more a source of frustration than they ever are a help.
I've experienced literally every problem that you have, and yes, I'm more frustrated and stressed with the game than I am having any actual fun with it.
I just finished John Seeds section of the game, and I'm putting it down for a while in the hopes that maybe enough people complain that some of these issues get resolved in an upcoming patch.
Holy ****, getting resistance points finishes multiple missions AND outposts??
I was hoping it was just the falls end mission!
WHO THE HELL WOULD EVER HAVE WANTED THAT!? I have to play the game actively avoiding silos and random spawned events now so I'll have SOME chance to experience SOME of the game!
We need to start a petition to axe this garbage, because it utterly ruins the game for anyone who likes to do environment **** and side missions before they do the main quest.
Well, I finished the game a few days ago, and I'm not really entertained. Sad thing is, with how the EULA is, I can't get my money back, from either Ubisoft or Steam, who I bought it from, so I thought I might aswell try and finish this poorly constructed game.
Stupid as I am, I started a new game, because I wanted to see if the game was worth playing with the knowledge I now have of how the game works.
So, I am now constantly sneaking to avoid the insane combat spawn mechanics (still being magically spotted by planes though and forced into combat). I avoid ANYTHING, if possible, that gives resistance points. So not doing any outposts, destroying cult landmarks and such. Getting resistance points is purely by accident or if I'm forced into combat somehow, and accidently saving a hostage or killing a VIP.
So far, playing like this, the game now flows more "natural". But... playing the game like this, leaves out over half the game, so... I'm back to the base problem of this game... Half of the game is not playable.
Dear Ubisoft. I payed full price for your game, but I only get to play half of it.
This is a technicallity (or whatever it is called), I know, but it is really close to some sort of fraud!!!
I have to agree with all the above:
* NPCs sometimes do try to talk over one another, which gets annoying.
* If you watch any Far Cry 5 YouTube videos of someone just driving their truck down a road, you'll notice quite a few NPCs literally start running across the road right in front of their vehicle, making it look an awful lot like they want to commit suicide. Have seen this multiple times with various YouTubers.
* The spawn rates are a known issue--the devs are apparently working on it. You can literally kill non-stop cultists just by standing next to any road. Sooner or later, everything and anything will drive by. Watch those cars, trucks, and vans start piling up on the road...
* I knew the plane pilot was way OP in spotting you deep in the woods, while you (in an airplane) can't see jack squat. I wasn't aware though of the plane spotting you inside a building--that's pretty bad! 8-O
* Sidekicks do need work; they will sometimes stand in raging fire (that has crept up on them) and not try to escape, burning alive if you don't save them. They will also not try and avoid trucks whose driver has been shot out--had one of my sidekicks get run over by a truck that I had sniped the driver out of. Go figure.
Only got about halfway through one region in my second playthrough and I just can't be assed with this game anymore. It is boring with the way it is set up and knowing the endgame, there really is no point anymore. Only good thing I have to say about this game, is the graphics.
Far Cry 5 has ruined the Far Cry name for me.
