This is the exact same issue, that Ubisoft has not once acknowledged in exactly 7 years, since Far Cry 3. When the game is ran in nVidia Surround or Eyefinity mode, the game locks the field of view to 60/62. Pretty much unplayable, as it feels like the camera is permanently zoomed in with binoculars. This is also vomit inducing, as most people get motion sickness this way. One can only change the FoV if you don't play in Surround. (5760x1080 for most people). FC3, FC3 Blood Dragon, and FC4 have had this exact issue fixed over the years at the Widescreen Gaming Forum with programs like Flawless Widescreen. https://www.flawlesswidescreen.org/
Ubisoft, please for once make note of this issue. If you are going to reuse assets for 7 years straight (not including that these games are ultimately heavily modified versions of the Far Cry 2 engine) then PLEASE at least address on going issues with new "builds" of your freakin' engine!
Please fix!
I gave Far Cry 5 an honest chance with the FOV locked at 60 but it is a no go. I don't know anyone using multi monitors that can play any game at 60 FOV. As awesome as this game seems, the full immersion for me cannot be felt while running around feeling like i am holding my weapons with my face. Please address this issue so those of us who play multi monitor can either enjoy the game or move on to something else. Thanks.
I am baffled by this FOV issue. I mean it appears by everything else in the game settings that you go out of your way to make your games multi monitor friendly, but then have this FOV grenade that destroys the whole thing. I can't play the game game like this, it makes me ill. I purchased on steam and will refund if not addressed.
I have the same issue it is actually a [ Bug ] the team has purposely disabled the FOV and has hard coded FOV to: FOV=60 [ IF ] mulit_mon_mode=true.
Here are a bunch of screens showing off the bug, can you guys please unlock the FOV [ IF ] the game is in a multi screen mode, thanks in advance.
FOV 110 @ 1080p:
FOV 110 @ 5760x1080:
FOV 110 @ 1080p showing what 5760x1080 FOV is like in comparison, the yellow bars show you what is cur off above and below:
FOV enabled @ a none multi screen resolution: * note the UI is enabled and you can increment and decrement the FOV values *
FOV disabled @ a multi screen resolution: * note the UI is disabled and does not work at all and even has a specific gray overlay which is globally know as disabled in UI work *
It is a real shame that for what ever reason the team/company continues to do this to the Far Cry series and keeps on locking the FOV for only multi screen users(note - there are many 1st person games that allow any FOV a current example is Warhammer: Vermintide 2 that was just released). Both Assassin's Creed: Origins, Watch Dogs 2, Ghost Recon: Wildlands and The Division all have enabled/working FOV sliders and they are 3rd person games. Anyone that plays video games knows that FOV is the worst and effects gamers the most in 1st person perspective games. If the FOV is low in a FPS or 1st person perspective game it gives you brutal motion sickness, I am one of them. FYI most gamers get multi screen setups cause they have major motion sickness issues in 1st person perspective games, again I am one of them.
Can you please take this seriously and fix this issue as soon as possible. Once you do you should also patch Far Cry 3, Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 4 for you have done this to all those games as well which is really disappointing and discriminative to multi screen gamers,
Thanks and I look forward to the patch for Far Cry 5 that will fix this issue in the coming weeks. FYI as a game developer my self I know this is a easy fix to apply so I am sure it will not take long.
Hey guys, thanks for reporting this. Can you also report this to support with MSINFO and DXDIAG files? Thanks!
@ubisofttofu Thanks, I just made a ticket.
I am glad you guys are taking this seriously this time for the same issue has been in Far Cry 3, Far Cry Primal, and Far Cry 4 and you guys never fixed it(not you personally of course). Well at least this time you guys can not accuse multi screen gamers as being software pirates for Far Cry 5 uses Denuvo.
Please note my frustration is not pointed toward you personally I know you have nothing to do with it and are just doing your job. It has been very disappointing that the teams has not bothered to fix the same issue in the last three games and always have an excuse or don't care. I love the series to death and will always buy and support the games but it be really nice if for once this issue was resolved.
Anyways thanks for the link and posting, I am optimistic this time.
bought the game because all the reviews said "Supports Nvidia Surround and Eyefinity."
Total frikken lies.
Sure, it works, but your Field of view is locked to a level that makes you feel like you are in a claustrophobic Armour helmet peeking out of a slit. One is constantly trying to see more of the BEAUTIFUL world, but are locked in, and eventually quit in a rage of frustration to come and write a review, rather than playing the game.
Speaking of what's going on in that helmet - The music is either ON or OFF. Those are your options.
Some poor ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spent hours programming the sound of wind through the grass and a fly buzzing by, BUT YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE MUSIC AT THE VOLUME THAT THEY PUT IT AT, SO YOU WILL NOT HEAR THAT WIND OR THAT FLY.
Or you can have no music, which is sad. Because it really is very good music BUT THERE IS JUUUUST TOOO MUUUUCH!
It is 2018. Ubisoft should buy the rights to use a "volume slider" for music in their games. It's a thing.
But of these, the lack of FOV is the game killer. It is there. Why grey it out?
Add a volume slider for music and a FOV slider for people with real gaming computers, and this game could be a win.
If that is not coming, please tell me how to get my money back.
