I'll join in here, PS4 Pro, main story completed, stuck in late night mode which was ok for a bit, but i'm trying to finish up the side missions and it's getting rather annoying it being mostly dark all the time, the predatory animals seems to come out more at night so i'll be going somewhere, collection something and be attacked by a pack of wolves or a sneaky wolverine, almost as annoying as when faith constantly sending animals or guys after me when trying to be all stealth.
Can we get a patch already, i'll try a reinstall this afternoon, but at this point i'd rather not play, the constant night time is driving me a little loopy.
1) there is no day/night cycle--even when it works properly. a typical day/night cycle is completely autonomous. environments are lit and rendered in real-time. starting with far cry 3, day/night change is confusingly tied to player movement. my guess is that they simply don't know how to do it with this engine, at least not without breaking something else
2) the day/night bug is likely embedded in this "short-cut," which is more or less hard-coded. this would also suggest why updates have/are going to be sluggish since no one really knows where to look. in fact, i wouldn't be surprised if the source code was piecemealed together, which means don't hold ur breath on timely updates...
Source code piecemealed together, short-cut, whatever does not let Ubisoft off the hook for lack of communication. Are they working on it or are they not? "I'll pass the questions along and see what I can find out" and then nothing for two weeks (and counting) does not Instill much confidence in me that anything is going to get fixed here.
I haven't seen this bug. Its a stinker though so i hopetheyfix it quickly.
Just wanted to chime in with a bit of detail clarification.
There is indeed a day night cycle. They way it all works together and is an .....interesting choice. I assume the movement related style is to make it seem like we are traveling greater distance than we are or something but, if one stands still for approx 3 mins, an actual genuine cycle kicks in. It stops and is overriden by the movement sytem again as soon as you move, but its there. Personally i would have liked that to be the primary system but i guess they have their reasons.
I am on PC and can confirm that this does not work. I have been playing for two days in the dark and after reading this post, gave it a try. I stood for ten minutes and still nothing happening and am still playing in eternal darkness. Again Ubisoft, I will ask, are you doing something about this bl**dy annoying obvious bug? If I have to play this entire game in total darkness I will be seeking a refund from my third party vendor. Please give those that are experiencing this bug, the courtesy of a response.Originally Posted by BERTANDERNY Go to original post
