It's happening so much since season 5 started on PC. Sometimes my attacks will hit right after I hear the block sound and the opponent looks like he blocked. And the other way around. It's really fun when I hit someone with a killing blow heavy attack, the execute button icons popup, then time seems to rewind and the opponent is now alive and well. I'm already accustomed to the devs on this game taking several months to do anything, but I'm just wondering if they are actually planning to do something about this? Are these things that Lag Comp is suppose to fix, but still haven't been implemented since dedicated servers?
I'm noticing another issue since season 5 with guard break and counter guard break. This even happened dueling a bot last night: a peacekeeper bot ran up and I knew he was going to GB me, I immediately started pushing X as it happened, it still didn't counter GB. And I'm noticing after I dodge (the dodge animation and movement is complete) I can still get GB without being able to stop it. My character is already done moving and is just standing there, but still can't counter GB? Is that some sort of lag? Speaking about guard breaks, why do I or the other person get GB when we GB at the same time? I noticed when I start to GB and I see them doing a GB at the same time, I better keep pushing the GB button or I'll get guard broken. I really thought a long time ago the devs said when this happens, people are suppose to bounce off of each other, but that's usually not the result that I'm seeing. Once again, a lag issue or game design?
This “ edge of tomorrow” thing you described has been a thing even before the servers for me.
The servers improved the resync and the disconnects after the rage quits, but they aren’t what i’ve Experienced on the server beta test. Light attacks hits me even if I block to the right position, there is a lot of instantaneous guard breaks going, maybe this is the lag of time snap, but whatever, it is indeed the most annoying thing right now.
And why does so often it show everyone with a red connection except mine? Mine will be green, all others red. Hitting through guards and stuff seems to have gotten worse with dedicated servers. I run a speedtest during the match when connections look like this, but my internet comes back as 15 or less ping and 80+ mbps download. Nothing else running in the background. I don't think it's on my end.
Lag compensation is pretty close to completion. Recently, we had some very promising internal tests with it and we should be looking to bring it live in our next title update. It will first be coming to PC players to ensure the changes are providing the intended stability and will then be released onto consoles.
