CELEBRATE!
For those not in the know- VIVENDI is a large company that was attempting a hostile takeover of Ubisoft (Where the company buys enough of its stock share to own the company via owning a majority of its shares.)
Ubisoft and the Guillemot family have been fighting feverishly to fend off the takeover, because Ubisoft doesn’t want to risk losing the kind of company that it is.
Vivendi has been known to buy companies like Ubisoft, restructure them, close studios, and kill lesser IPs.
With this good news, this company, it’s franchises, and developers gets to stay he way it is
I think it's good news.
A note of caution I would want to add is that Ubisoft has been on 'best behavior' these last couple of years.
The focus on quality with Assassin's Creed Origins, not going for predatory loot boxes, etc, are consumer friendly and I'm sure at least in part about not giving Vivendi and shareholders any controversy to criticize Ubisoft with while the Vivendi matter hung over them.
Now that the hostile threat is over, I hope that Ubisoft will understand that goodwill that has been generated by doing the things I mentioned above and not go back to 'AC Unity' style game making now that the heat is off.
Ubisoft has been improving its image of late, lets keep on doing that please.
Rockstar is the subsidiary of a larger company Take 2 interactive, if anything they'd be the ones to buy Ubi, but I think Ubi is just as large if not larger than take 2, so they're in no position to be acquiring Ubi...Originally Posted by Viragoxv535 Go to original post
I'm fine with delays for a qualitatively better product.Originally Posted by cliffro69 Go to original post
