I played GR yesterday and it was working fine. When I came back a few hours later the sounds were garbled. I thought it would stop eventually but over 24 hours later it has not stopped. Can anyone help?

What platform is this occurring on, and what sorts of sounds are being garbled? Video of the issue (with sound, obviously) might be helpful in investigating this.

The platform is X Box One and it is all of the game sounds ( people talking, rain, vehicle noises, etc)

Has happened to me once before. I had to run a complete power shutdown on my Xbox to clear it. A normal power off by just shutting down the console didn't work; if in doubt how to shut down completely, turn off first and then pull the power lead out of the wall for a minute.
