    Limit Drone Usage

This post is mostly meant about the Scout drone since this is by far the most annoying drone. It cools down much faster than all the others and detects movement, putting your team in a "freeze".

I mentioned this in a previous post and was wondering if there was any progress. Limit the amount of drones per user, if it gets shot down.

There's nothing worse than shooting down a scout drone, then seemingly seconds later it's back up. In my opinion, this is an easy fix, limit the amount of drones to 2 or 3 per round. I'd rather have 2, but just saying 3 for everyones benefit, but if a drone gets shot down, am I really to believe he has several more in his backpack?

This will drive user's to be more protective of their drone, since they may be limited. At the same time, make the drones tougher to shoot down. Right now, it is rather easy, but if we are limiting them, then sure, make it harder to shoot, make that box a little smaller to hit.

Thoughts on this? I think it's pretty reasonable.

We've made the team aware of this suggestion on numerous occasions, but I don't think there are any plans to put a hard limit on drones like this. The drones are a fundamental part of the kit of some of the support classes, and the team can fine-tune the balance with the cooldown times.

It seems as if there's someone on the dev team, maybe in a managerial role, who is emotionally attached to the drones. Maybe they helped work on that feature, or a good friend of theirs did, and they don't want their hard work to be less evident. If that's the case then it's selfish, and they need to realize that while it's a cool feature, it's having an overall negative effect on the game.

Either that, or the dev team's higher-ups want drones to stay a major focus of the game for marketing reasons.

Personally, I haven't played the game in about a month and I don't have plans to ever play it again, perhaps unless they take meaningful steps to reduce drone usage.

    Not reasonable at all-
Please leave the drones alone - shoot em , tech em, if you don’t like them but they are a great part of the game....
also remember once your marked they still have to come get you, your gun comes in real handy at that point ... and bada bing, bada boom , problem solved

Please leave the drones alone - the majority of the players who are not in these forums but are actually eyeing recon towers, securing HVT’s and access points don’t mind...
For all the ones in need. I am willing to provide tutorials, as well as YouTube links to other Ghosts - to help combat the dronaphobia spreading through The Wildlands.

If custom hardcore rooms become available i.e searchable even if its not ranked then we can play a more tactical wildlands.

Absolutely reasonable, especially with the addition of yet anothr drone with marking abilities.

I have sifted through these forums, and on almost every single page there is a thread about drones and drone usage, and they dont care, infact they dismiss it so much that they just added another drone like a giant F8*k you to all of us who have mentioned our hatred for drones.

I hate being marked, I think it is a pain in the A*s, but that is not why I dont like the drones, I dont like the drones because they are SO FAKE, A drone the size of a dinner plate that can take multiple shots from an AR, Drones that when they are shot down they just respawn, lol, they wont give us a respawn mode (not that I want one I think it would be horrible) but they will respawn drones lol. its ridiculous.

I honestly think that if a drone is shot down it should either need to be repaired or the user should have to restock to get a new one. I run out of bullets shooting at those damn things, if I have to restock for more ammo they should have to restock for more drones..

Another thing, is when there is a team using 4 drones the round draws over and over and over, the fluidity of game play is thrown out the window. you have 4 people laying in bushes with drones up, not moving on targets, not taking shots at people not getting kills, just leveling up on the draw from all the marks.

About the marks.. These magical little drones light "people" up bright orange telling the whole opposite team where you are. (SO FAKE) The only drone that marks people should be the scout and it should only mark people for the person using the drone. Than the person using the drone should have to communicate to his or her team where those people are using the compass.

Where did the sense of realism go Ubisoft?

The medic drone.. OMG! this little magic drone shoots out a green magical cloud that brings someone back to life? (SO FAKE)

I know i know it is a game. BUT it IS the only warfare game that actually holds an idealistic view of realism. So why would you ruin that with gimmicks and garbage??

    I will tell you why.

This game came out as just a strictly PvE game, Ubisoft promised a PvP and did not release it for 7 months after the base game released, They KNEW that this game was going to fall flat on its face, so they have not taken care of things like drones, or matchmaking, or server crashes, or game disconnects, infact they did the complete opposite, they gave us MORE drones, they gave us PENALTIES for when the game crashes, and instead of fixing matchmaking, they made it so the new people who dont know how to play the game now have access to all the classes at level 25!!

They added bullet prrof leaves, they added bullet proof fences, they made a rifle that can shoot through ANYTHING including landscape with absolutely no problems.

They knew this game was going to fail, which is why now they have crammed 2 updates into one, because they know that once FC5 comes out they are going to lose more than half of there already pitiful player base.

This game has been a let down since the first update. They broke it so badly they have been trying to fix it and just keep breaking it more and more. I mean they added someone that when they get shot almost dead with a push of a button there health regens and they are damn near bulllet proof.. They added a class that is immune to setting off mines, traps, satcoms, cant be spotted.

It has been a joke to say the least.

I know this topic comes up constantly since I've been on the forums the past couple of months. There's even the ongoing thread "Drone wars continue" which may have more replies than any other topic, so obviously it's a pretty important and controversial issue within the community.

It'd be nice if Ubi could put out a market-test poll to get specific feedback numbers on how actual players feel about the details of drone use. I'm not for drones being entirely removed from the game as that would render the support class useless obviously. I would be for a hardcore mode without drones, but it's already been stated that's not going to happen. So since we know the baseline of where Ubi stands on the issue of drones, we should have some realistic options for tweaking the support classes like any other classes to improve the experience.

Drones are not being removed, that has been stated. There's not going to be a hardcore mode without drones, that's also been stated. So what can we realistically offer in terms of a compromise so that everyone is somewhat happy and it's a bit of a win-win? And I quote from Stranger Things here: "compromise is being halfway happy."

    1) Cooldown Timers. Ubi has mentioned possibly looking at and tweaking the cooldown timers. Does anyone have the numbers on the cooldown timers for the different support classes, with and without drone pilot? The scout seems to regenerate the fastest from my time playing with them but I've never actually timed them. I do think the cooldown timer of the scout drone could be adjusted as it seems to reset the fastest. The other drone timers seem okay to me.

    2) Marking. I think this is an area which should be looked at and possibly tweaked as well. Is this off the table? I've seen others ask the question but I dont know if I've ever seen it explicitly answered. My personal opinion is the Scout drone should be the only drone capable of marking enemies. That's its role and does it best. The other support classes should only be allowed to use their drones for their intended purpose and abilities (medic for healing, artillery for mortar, smoke for smoke), pretty obvious I know, and should not be allowed to mark enemies. I think that would appease a lot of the community that are totally against drones but not make drones entirely useless as the scout could still mark and the other drone users could ping positions if desired.

    3) Thermal. Should thermal be available to all drone classes? I'm okay with it if only the Scout drone can mark people. Let the other support classes have thermal if that's the case. If everyone can mark, then I would say only the Scout and Diversionist should have thermal (since Diversionist cant mark anyway), and the other three drone classes should not have access to thermal.

    4) Drones still active after using abilities. In my opinion, I would prefer that after the drone classes uses said ability, the drone would be taken out of the air and the cooldown timer would start to reset. A lot of times you'll see a mortar drone or medic use their ability quickly and then stay up in the air for another 30-45 seconds "scouting". Scouting is not their intended ability, and therefore after they use their ability, it's my personal opinion the cooldown timer should restart and the drone should be taken out of the air.

5). Diversionist. I separated this class out into its own point because I think it could use some work. I like this class a lot, don't play it a ton because I usually only play with one other person, but it's extremely useful if you have a full squad. I do think it either needs to be renamed to stealth drone and given a different ability, or if it's going to retain it's nosemaker, then it would be cool if you could pick the type of gun sound you wanted to mimic instead of being relegated to the default gun sound which fools no one.

All guys talking about "REAL this and REAL that" and that this game came out originally as PVE not thinking about PVP, Correct me if I am wrong but the Last Major Ghost Recon Title was Future Soldier in 2012... Which guess what if you played the game is the same concept as this game... small teams 6v6 (4v4 in WL) going at it, using... guess what? That is right your favorite piece of Tech, A DRONE!!! To guess what? That is Correct MARK folks. In the same way marking has been done Showing BIG RED ICONS.... This is the way the game is and always has been. Nothing about this game is real people..... 3 Headshots to kill, being able to swipe binoculars over any patch of bush and automatically mark people, big Red flashing icons and circles when anything explosive is thrown at you, Operators running around with huge freaking backpacks for a 6 - 8 minute operation? Does any of that sound real to you? Did not think so. This is the way GR has been for years, so do not expect them to single out Drones because you hate having to stay still for a minute because you do not trust your gun play when you are revealed to the enemy...
