to make deflect viable and more widely used as a replacement for parry as assasins
- make unblockables deflectable
- maybe give a better window
- better/different deflects for certain characters ( pk and orochi )
- (removed from good reason)
- and finally make deflects give you iframes like shinobis where you cant be hit after
-(edit) i also feel like a parry should be a bit less effective for asassins ( maybe less stamina drain?)
(edit)- the harder the move is to deflect should scale to how much damage the deflect can do

1) Yea, I can see that. Would make some unblockables less spammed
2) Yea, I can kinda agree with that, lots of attacks are randomly timed so that would help out with consistency
3) No. Orochi already has 2 options, 1 of which does a LOT of damage and has hyperarmor, the other is safe and confirms damage. PK's deflect is fine, it bleeds the enemy for a decent amount of damage
4) No. The point of hyper armor is for heavier, slower characters to defend against fast characters that can spam the slower ones out of their moves. Shugoki and Highlander especially would become incredibly useless if all those moves were deflected on and the hyperarmor was interrupted, moreso if you introduce a wider window to more easily perform those deflects
5) Yea, I can kinda see this. If you do a deflect, should be able to get damage off. If point #4 is not implemented, then doing a deflect against someone with hyperarmor would be more of a trade. And considering Assassins have the same or slightly less health, they can afford to trade with hyperarmors with the amount of damage they can push out with quick attacks (like 120 for assassins to 120-140 for everyone else, with only Lawbro and Shugo being the exception with 150 and 160).
I like what you put out. I really like your first point. Unblockables should be deflectable. Better window.. I would be very careful with this. This is somewhat an alternate parry so although I would say it’s nice it can’t be necessarily easier than a parry. I would say if there are to be I framed this would have to be VERY strict and fine tuned for every characters deflect. It’s one thing to give shinobi some leniency since he can’t control the teleport it’s another for a pk to land a deflect then take a heavy to the face likes its nothing. But I like this post. Can be built on. Most of my support goes towards your first point. I do have an idea for you though. I believe the deflects damage or effect should be based on what attack was deflected. I would expect a bigger reward for deflecting a light attack that a heavy.
Deflect is not and should never be seen as equal to parry.
I can see making deflect slightly easier by removing the start up of 100ms before the deflect window is active.
But that's really all it needs.
If assassins didn't have access to parrying then I would absolutely agree that deflects would need to be more flexible.
But they have parry. Which tells me that deflect is a situational tool. Not a general tool for assassins to use often.
The only deflect in the game that's bad imo is pk's. everyone elses is good. Orochi probably has the best. (I would've said zerker but now that the 90 damage punish is gone and you have to input GB to get it it's not as strong.)
Deflect is nice idea, so why not make 1 or 2 assasins deflect specialist, guve them maybe 2-3 options how to react after succesfull deflect (light, GB, heavy punish), maybe deflect light attack guaranteed heavy punish? And take away other deflects of other heroes to make some character more dissimilar to others...
EDIT: and to this deflect specialist make some better rules like better identificator or timing? And take them away dodge attacks to prevent risk of jumpy jumpy hero which only dodges...
