I would imagine that it is possible, but I dont see the point honestly. Especially is it does actually have COOP, which I dont know, just speculating.Originally Posted by GRAW2ROBZ Go to original post
Lets be honest. Escape maps are a solo experience. Its a puzzle you figure out by yourself really.
Playing with 12 people is big if you've ever played Fc2 escape maps... I'm sure you have. I don't want to create an escape map just to get downloads. I want to be able to experience others trying to beat it. That is where the fun lyes, watching others play it.Originally Posted by akilyoung Go to original post
Playing with and watching one other person try to beat your map is not satisfying. Sometimes I would hold competitions on who could "beat" a map first...that is no longer possible. You can't watch teamwork...the fun with you and another person is just not there with more people. If you want to play your own escape map you literally just watch one person, since you already know what to do and how to beat the map. Not fun.
FC2 also had an option to spectate the match as a flying camera if you were the host.
I hope ubi patches it in somehow, or even makes it a bit more possible with, again, vote time extensions like in Fc2.
Did fc3 and fc4 have these "vote to extend time" options?
Of course, Ive played MANY escape maps in FC2 with friends, as well as randoms who would keep killing you cause they didnt know what an escape map was lol.
But like I said, I am pretty sure the mode is COOP enabled, not 100%, but pretty sure. SO if thats the case, you can play with at least one other person, which should be fine. You can still race to beat it.
Those randoms made the game interesting, sure was frustrating, but you try to kill em than advance on the map. I'm sorry but 1 other person is in no ways enough, especially when playing your own map. I get you probably are more into making dm and tdm maps which generally have no issues here besides players cannot truly host lobbies, but having only 1 other person to play with on an escape map is a low blow.Originally Posted by akilyoung Go to original post
Obstacle Course maps were out on Instincts back in 2005, they were generally crappy things that looked like a turd with things floating everywhere, I imagine some were well thought out but visually horrible.
My belief is that people like Map Builder / Liam / Fovan / Razor showed the way then others like SimpleWig, Clyde and many many others added massive eye candy into them but at a cost because that ate up the budget so they were often shorter, the name changed to Escape maps but originally they were known as course maps.
Alpha Sgt also did several very clever maps, Far Cry 2 and the Instincts games were perfect with the lobby and also you could set the time to infinite.
Some of these maps could take 30 mins to an hour or longer to get through if you knew what you were doing where Escape maps were much shorter, Kari666 made some excellent Escape maps on FC3 also I made some with Supascoopa_ we tried to push them on that platform.
At one point Escape Maps were so popular they were dominating maps been played on FC2 XB360
With the FC5 option to create a loadout and not have guns at the start that would stop the killing, also having Journey mode in PvP would be superb for race maps and something to put a twist on Escape / Course maps you could design one and have both teams start at opposite ends they race through the course which would be identical for each other and the first to the middle wins the match on entering extraction.

There were a lot of people good at making these maps. I was a bit late to the Fc2 escape map party but I also made some pretty decent maps in the category. In all I probably made around ten or so, each having it's own unique challenges and most were themed in some way. One being a mansion, another Egypt, another volcano, another a gigantic cube with cube rooms like in the movie "the cube", etc. I managed to make a horizontal "elevator" as well though it was a bit glitchy. Im not sure if it is possible to play Fc2 online but if yall wanna check out my maps just search my username. I'm not saying I'm great or terrible, and I don't care, the main point is that I had a **** ton of fun making, playing and watching others playing my maps, as well as playing others. Fc2 offered a unique type of fun that you could only get from that game.
I stopped playing Fc2 once it was basically impossible to log in anymore on the 360.
That does sound like a cool mode fallen, though it would be limited by time obviously and the fact that people could have played it previously, so it would have to be more of a jumping or whatever obstacle course map instead of one that would involve riddles and different paths to take, some leading to death, to be fair... unless the map is totally new to everyone playing.
I wonder what the community can figure out to do in this editor with all that is given to us and am very excited, just hope for that update though
What you said was if you want to play an escape map with more than 1 other played you're limited by a timer, right?Originally Posted by akilyoung Go to original post
@Akilyoung - perhaps you can answer this question. For modes like Journey, will each map have a leaderboard to show the best times for that map? I think Trials Fusion does something like that.
I think that might be a good compromise for people like @usmovers_02 - publish a Journey map, then challenge all your friends to beat your time on it, or see who can get the best time.
