    For Honor Free Roam (and how to implement it)

    Hello there.

    I know this isn't the first thread of this nature, but I thought I'd make one discussing my thoughts on a possible and simple solution to a free roam For Honor.

    First off, emotes, executions, animations of all characters (moving, idle, etc) are all perfected really well. They are very immersive and there is no need for work there. This would just make the Free Roam more awesome.

    How to implement the Free Roam option into For Honor? Well, it's simple. As Warframe introduced a Free Roam option with their 'Plains of Eidolon' update, I was thinking...

    Instead of creating a whole new map especially, only for free roam, combine and merge all of the awesomely crafted maps already made and currently in the game together, and just like the Faction War map, that will give the maps a territorial feel, with maps like Citadel Gate and Sentinel in the near vicinity of each other, but your character would have to travel somewhere further for example, the Temple Garden area for the Samurai or Overwatch maps. Basically, all faction maps will be closer to each other, but in between would be like, a vast empty space like grass or something. Maybe snowy grass for Valkenheim, and lush green areas for the Samurai, and open fields for the Knights. As you travel across this giant map merged with all maps together, the terrain would slowly change to that region. So if you were a Knight, and there were open flelds after leaving Citadel Gate, and you are heading to Viking Village in Valkenheim, as you get closer to Valkenheim as a region, the terrain around you gets 'snowier' (if that is even a word).

    If possible, add fauna and flora (animals and plants, aka wildlife), if not, add maybe 'rebels' or 'bandits', from each faction, with reskinned playermodels, maybe like, exiled Samurai that fight like the Samurai captains in the game, and are more common around the area of the Myre.

    There should also be a player hub, where you can go to a blacksmith or something, instead of the menu we have now, with salvage, all the armour and scavenger crate openings. It will be a no fighting zone (ceasefire, if you want to call it that), where players can meet up and socialize to an extent, and show off their hard earned awesome gear from the gamemodes that are played after leaving free mode (basically the current game modes we have now).

    Maybe there could be a clan system, or maybe that system could be already there with the function of the group system, where 4 players can matchmake in the game already. If you go to Free Roam, you all will be allies with each other, and may be able to fight other players along the way, making the open areas outside maps such as Citadel Gate, Viking Village, or Temple Garden, making the outside environment a 'PVPVE' style situation. Seeing as the world of For Honor has been segregated by a natural disaster, and everyone's resources are scarce, and the aftermath of Apollyon's Reign would affect the whole situation too, this could work amazingly and make For Honor even more amazing than it already is, despite it's flaws which are also being addressed.

    Alliances could be something of an effect, where certain clans from, say the Vikings, are able to team up with Samurai clans that are willing for it, to fight against others, and gain resources and stuff. That would also fit perfectly into the Faction War with the 'capture the mill' stuff, but ACTUALLY ALLOWING YOU TO CAPTURE THE MILL, which would be a cool addition as a raid mechanic. Although of course, there can be discord amongst the clans that team up, and they could become enemies. The clans could be player made, to add a sense of belonging to a group, and regular entry helps out your clan. Or, we could stick with the plain old, 'Iron Legion', and what not, but it could also be possible to make it branch into the player clans.

    Anyway, that's all I can mainly think of. Let me know your thoughts, or don't, haha.

    yes some sort of hub would be great. some traininggrounds with sparring circles where you could challenge people and others chilling in the hub could watch if they wanted. i feel like somethign similar to this is what people wanted from the current Elimination mode but because some people wanna duel - and others gank - it never really works out.
    there are many variations: a garrisons training grounds, an arena, broken down ruins - whatever. - aslong as it's a hub where people get to hang out, show of their gear and chat and maybe a blacksmith/forge like you mentioned to access hero customizations. with that we could finally have an ingame community, where people could actually get to know eachother and build up a reputation etc.
    the social aspect of a hub with a chat could very well help people fight toxicity too, since they would Have to deal with it instead of just saying "kys noob" and leave game. while it would also create rivalries between clans/guilds especially in a game like this which is literally about fighting eachother in duels.

    i remember hanging around in wow orgrimmar for hours just chatting in general and guildchat and i was hardly alone. people tend to want a place to hang out. imo this is a very big missed opportunity.

    Man, this is outstanding. I'd absolutely love to have this in For Honor, but I have to say it also sounds pretty ambitious. I'd be surprised if Ubisoft implemented something as robust as this considering where For Honor is in it's life span.

    If not for this installment, perhaps for the sequel?

    Great thinking. I like your ideas. I completely agree (that this is a missed opportunity and what not), but hopefully Ubisoft make up for it in the coming Seasons.

    Again, thank you so much for the support, I really appreciate it. It is ambitious, but hey, 'Test Your Metal' was somewhat ambitious, 'Mask Outfits' and 'Effects' kill the inital immersion of For Honor, and that is ambitious. But then again... Ubisoft ARE ambitious. (quote me on that please )

    They may make mistakes, but in my opinion, they are my favourite game developers of all time. Making my favourite franchises such as Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, and now more recently For Honor. While I am not entirely sure if there will be a 'For Honor 2', nor will I want one, but rather a continuously updated 'For Honor', like it is now. ('For Honor 2' doesn't really roll off the tongue well in my opinion. )

    For Honor is without a doubt, an amazing game. People who rage at it, either are bad at the game, or it isn't their kind of game but they decided to try it, they just like to point out the flaws in Ubisoft, etc, etc. I could go on and on. Haters will always be there.

    I rage at the game alot (I think I am sort of decent at the game, and then this like Reputation 108+ player comes and beats the crap out of me), but I always find myself coming back. It's just that good.

    If this feature was added, oh my god, For Honor would be game of the year, hands down.

    It's a nice idea but you're basically asking for an entirely new game to be created and pasted on top of this one. Monster Hunter World: For Honor Edition.

    Maybe if they make a For Honor 2 but for this game it's just not feasable to start making a brand new MMO RPG game engine on top of their Fighting game/MOBA hybrid game engine.

    it's more just a lobby where you could hang out, and even queue games from. instead of sitting in the menu. doesn't have to be a large project and certainly not an RPG game world

    No. I am not asking for a new game. Plus, Monster Hunter? I never said 'we should hunt unidentifiable creatures of a mysterious origin to fuel our nature of honor and courage'. I'd never ask for a game to be made, I might as well be on their dev team creating ideas then, which I am not, nor do I want to be, at least anytime soon.

    And I have already stated I don't want a 'For Honor 2', it just doesn't roll off the tongue. It doesn't seem like an 'Assassin's Creed', where it will continue as a franchise, but a standalone amazing game, that if updated, will be phenomenal.

    Exactly, that could be all that it comes down to, and I'd be satisfied enough with that. Cause it would add for player interaction...

    Come to think of it, I made a thread on this idea before, and it got ignored.... I suppose it fits into the Free Roam idea well though.

    Although "For Honor 2" doesnt roll off the tongue, I always thought the sequal should be called "For Glory"
