What happened to this For Honor?
I know many are going to say "its motion capture" and " too hard to implement all the realistic mechanics" and "armor clipping issues" and "graphics are too good" and "the player base would be very small."
That's not what I'm asking for. I'm asking for a story for what happened to this for honor. May anyone please shine some light on this?
part 1
part 2
(idk if this is actual lore or not but it seems legit)
I kinda want this game more than the one we have now.
Maybe make it into one big gamemode or something idk... (btw this was not intended as a suggestion thread)
The first 3 videos are the developer's proof of concept creations. None of them are actual gameplay, they are all pre-rendered videos. They were made so the devs could pitch the project and for people to get a general idea of what kind of game they wanted to make. It's basically the developers putting out their ideas freely into a pre-arranged video sequence without worrying too much about how the mechanics of it or the tech will work at that point. During the development process they then started working out the mechanics of the fighting system, the how and what could be done with the tech, the game modes and etc. The concept naturally evolved over the course of developing the actual gameplay until we got the For Honor from the first alpha.
The last 3 videos (Knights, Vikings, Samurai) looks to be something a fan made by narrating over the footage.
What is that in part1? The 'Wonqueror'?
Looks very gritty and far more in keeping with the original theme, but given how all developers can flesh out an incomplete game over several months, the game was always going to morph into something else. Plus the original concept of For Honor would have only kept a very tiny hardcore player base I believe.
We may never know what happened to that vision of For Honor. It looked like they were going for something much more realism based than this current version of For Honor and also something more akin to Dynasty Warriors in terms of the premise, i.e. a more free roaming kind of battlefield. I first had the impression that it was going to be an MMO when I first saw that Knight vs Viking video. Something like you create a unique character and then go fighting in different battlefields all the while pillaging all sorts of different weapons and armour with which to customise your hero.Originally Posted by Ianoneshot Go to original post
I'd love to see that game be made a reality some day even though I have come to enjoy this version of For Honor.
Looks this WAS going to be For Honor, until I heard from Ubi that many bugs happened so they swapped it. Then they went for the more.... general public of the game, this was nothing about marketing. Stop thinking so negatively, have some more positiveness in you.All flash my friend. Made to look to sell and idea. They're pretty as hall, but too slow imo. Remember when bungi did this for Destiny? Oooh, Ahhh, so much awesome! Many gimmicky!
It sucked *** because it was nothing like they promised.
Y'all might want to set aside 1 hour, and watch this;
The TLDR is; My working theory was always that Jason Vandenberghe left, and with him went most of this dark & gritty vision of For Honor. Roman and Damien then remained, and has chosen to rely largely on the Reddit communities desires.
If I had enough ****s left to give, I'd start one hell of argument about why the Reddit community receives more attention than the meme-less forum crowd does.
I'm not disappointed with this game other than its so full of bugs. It was marketing though, that's why these video are made. Obviously changes were inevitable, and not necessarily for the better, as much as you'd like to believe (I.e. for the general public). I seriously doubt Ubisoft changed the look and gameplay because of bugs.Originally Posted by Ianoneshot Go to original post
