    Question to the Developers

Did you optimize the PC version, specifically the CPU usage in Far Cry 5? Or can I already start looking forward to stuttering, hitching and atrocious frame pacing like in the previous games?

What about LoD and texture streaming, have they been finally improved? Or are we still going to see the road textures being loaded in front of us as we drive?

Love the franchise, hate its atrocious optimization on PC.

    My Computer Specifications:

    i7 4930K
64 GBs of RAM (1600 MHz)
    GTX 1080Ti
    850 Pro SSD
    Windows 10

If I wont be able to max out Far Cry 5 at 1440p and maintain a rock-solid 60 fps I am without a doubt going to refund this game on Steam and give it a negative review as well as never touch any other Ubisoft game ever again. I still have trauma from Far Cry 4 and its performance.

You meant we shouldn't take at face value the following from Ubisoft:

"PC has always been a key element of Far Cry’s DNA, and this couldn’t be truer with Far Cry 5”.

Just yet another bold statement from Ubisoft, which most likely wont live up to the truth. Knowing Ubisoft and its history with PC versions, that statement you quoted has 0 credibility.

What I've always wondered since FC2; do they actually believe what they claim (such as that quote) when it comes to the platforms they design their games around.

Understanding of course that sales are greater for the consoles then the PC (which I'm also on btw).

What else do you expect them to say? They are not going to admit to their mistakes or state anything negative about their upcoming game. Its PR, namely a bunch of lies.

As for the sales, if Ubisoft didn't make such atrocious PC ports, sales on PC would be significantly higher, maybe not entirely on par with consoles, but definitely higher than what they currently are. Proper PC optimization would be not only in benefit for the PC users but will also generate more revenue for Ubisoft and improve its awful reputation in the PC industry. So I do not comprehend even in the slightest, why Ubisoft isn't trying hard enough to release properly optimized Games which make use of PC hardware efficiently and effectively which would be of benefit for everybody involved.

I have spent more time in gameprofile.xml and the Nvidia control panel than in Far Cry 3 and 4. And the funny thing is that it doesnt only apply to Far Cry, same thing with AC and other Ubisoft titles.

The biggest joke however, is how Crytek made from the Cry Engine used originally in Far Cry, one of the best game engines ever with insane graphics and outstanding hardware utilization. Ubisoft however took that same engine, and made Dunia out of it, which has severe rendering and texture streaming issues as well as abysmal hardware utilization.

Another aspect that one would think the gaming media would be asking of Ubisoft, among other issues, when a new game is announced and leading up to its release. After all it's no secret as to the track record of Ubisoft.

Given the track record (especially after the roll out of FC4); that's what I found so amusing about the quoted statement.

And how many open world games do run perfectly at 1440p while maintaining a rock-solid 60 fps?

Game development is always a process of compromise.

Out of those that I own, Just Cause 2, Just Cause, 3 The Witcher 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Batman Arkham City, Mad Max, Metal Gear Solid 5, Forza Horizon 3, Mafia 2, Sleeping Dogs, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, all the mentioned games run fully maxed out at a constant locked 60 fps on my PC. In addition, some of the games not only run at a rock-solid 60 fps, but also look significantly better than Far Cry 3 or 4.

So yeah, plenty of open world games are actually well optimized and run great on my PC.

ok, more that I thought then.

But why the complaints when the game isn't even out?

I found a site that listed the 4k/60fps specs:

    Minimum Configuration

    OS: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only)
PROCESSOR: Intel Core i5-2400 @ 3.1 GHz or AMD FX-6300 @ 3.5 GHz or equivalent
VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 or AMD R9 270 (2GB VRAM with Shader Model 5.0 or better)
    SYSTEM RAM: 8GB
    Resolution: 720p
    Video Preset: Low

    http://www.mweb.co.za/games/view/tab...FPS-on-PC.aspx

That should mean it'll work fine for you, yes?

Believe me, I genuinely hope that Far Cry 5 will run well and is optimized for PC this time around, and all the issues I have previously mentioned have been addressed. But knowing Ubisoft, and the past two Far Cry instalments, this is very unlikely to happen. Both Far Cry 3 and 4 have pretty low system requirements, which my PC exceeds by a huge amount, yet I still suffer from awful stuttering which is extremely consistent and immersion breaking, atrocious frame pacing which makes the game feel slow and laggy even at higher framerates, constant fps drops in CPU limited scenarios because the game maxes out only one core thread while all the other ones are idling etc.

The system requirements for the Far Cry games were never indicative of whether you gonna have a good experience or not because the game is plagued with major technical issues. And the thing is, I only experience this in Far Cry games and other Ubisoft franchises. Sure other games are not perfect either but they are nowhere near as bad as those from Ubisoft.
