For Honor needs to go back to it's gritty roots!

As me and many other people were attracted to this game from the original trailers like this one.

    https://youtu.be/zFUymXnQ5z8

I love how gritty, brutal and original it looks!
But since launch the devs seem to be doing to much fan service with what they add, armour, weapon, emote and executions wise, that it has lost its original identity a bit Imo.
Now dont get me wrong a fair amount of what they add I think its pretty cool to a point and well designed.

But I think its time to tone it down and start adding new armour designs that are less edgy and spikey and a bit more original to the concept.

I would love to have less over the top weapons and armour, I dont mean make things bland and uncool by any means but a bit less edgelord and ott weapon designs would be nice. Some nice less ott emotes and executions would be nice as well.

I do believe that any new characters down the line should derived from the original cast not romans, celts etc just actual knight, viking and samurai heros.

I by no means want the game to be boring and as I said a fair amount of what you add is really cool but you're doing way to much fan service and straying away from what me and many other were attracted to your game for. Its becoming a bit to fantasy like. Its not TES or Dark Souls its For Honor and it should have its own unique design that sets it apart. Also memes are all well and good but dont go overboard...

This link to a thread states some more of what I mean:

The devs straight up admit to enjoying the meme culture... despite you, myself and many others wanting something different entirely, they don’t care.

They would rather laugh at adolescent emote spamming, than get back to the original, raw and brutal idea that the trailers depicted.

Sadly this will never happen. For Honor will never be the game that we hoped we would have watching those trailers. NEVER. Maybe For Honor 2, but this one? No way. They took an entirely different route and are even enjoying it!

I'm quitting the game and purchasing Kingdome Come Deliverance. And start over my wait for a properly made multiplayer medieval game. I might even reinstall Chivalry Medieval Warfare. At least in that game you have no GLOWING GREEN WARRIORS with stupid symbols on it. It looks real, it looks brutal.

But I guess I paid for this game already so Ubisoft doesn't give a sh1t.

    EDIT:
Btw we should have known better, it's been years that ubisoft released ultra cool trailers just to finally give us a different (worse) game. I had promised myself not to buy an ubisoft game ever again but then for honor came.... and I just fell into the trick again.

I know, that's what is really annoying its like they're catering to 12 year olds with a lot of things.

I want to see more original less fantasy design weapons and armour the most tbh and more serious emotes and executions.

We've been seeing the threads about these types of concerns (I guess I would call them aesthetic concerns), and will continue to let the team know you guys feel this way. Thanks for writing up your thoughts!

    Yup...

I was going to log on and play. Until I saw that.

Maybe tomorrow... maybe not. I fail to see how that can be funny to anyone with a fully developed brain.

So many cool ideas scrapped in that trailer. Like the original armor design for Orochi. And that one Orochi that was fighting with a Naginata I thought that actually looked pretty cool. Can't imagine why they would scrap that. And that one Warden using the Conqueror set.

I wasn't aware of this game back then so I didn't do any research on their concept ideas. But based on that trailer it looked like you could pick a character and choose a weapon based on the faction you were with. So you could pick a Warden and use a Lawbringer's halberd. A Kensei with a Kanabo (Shugoki's weapon) A Berserker with a war axe. That would have been so ****ing cool.

    But they had other ideas.

Anyways, to the OP I agree. Game is too meme friendly and I say they should tune it down. I dont mind the weapon designs at all, but the majority of them are gold. They have this idea that gold is the end all be all. No no no. Less gold please.

Just gonna leave this here. It's not real gameplay, but it was an earlier concept of For Honor:
