None of you understood anything apparently ... but what am I expecting from a community with an average age of 18 years old ... Instead of talking on point and on the subject, you decide to insult me and nitpick every single detail of my post ... That just smells of desperation in trying to find arguments against something that hit you personally (for some reason ... wink wink).

To clarify : there is a mute button in game. Make it mute text as well as chat for the muted person and be done with it. You don't like a guy who calls you names, mute him ... you're done. The community regulates itself this way. You don't need to ban a guy who plays right / fair, but has a foul mouth. Let people put their fingers in their years, so to say, and everybody can enjoy the software they payed for. If that guy decided to teamkill or screw the match, you have other systems in place to kick / ban him.

Instead, Ubisoft spends cash to develop a new automated system that gathers said reports and passes them to assigned moderators for review ... Because those moderators will always be fair and never interpret anything their way (/s) ... which will result in wrongful bans. Why spend the cash in the first place when you could simply implement a cheap feature like hiding text as well? (you already have the features implemented ... reuse them)

You can only hide text FOR EVERYBODY at the moment, which is lazy and dumb. With your system you'll allow Ubisoft employees to censor whatever THEY don't like, not always what is wrong ... and those employees ARE Ubisoft, so by definition Ubisoft will issue wrongful bans and censor people.

@Zoro Just like everybody else, you automatically assume that I'm throwing racial insults and I'm afraid that will be taken away from me. Means you didn't read my post 100% either, just like most of the community which seems to have short attention span.

Also, oh thank you OH MIGHTY MODERATOR for not locking my thread. Gee, I'm SO grateful .. It's not like there were dozens of threads on this forum filled with insults, curses and racial slurs that never got locked simply because they were praising your company and actions.

Also, since it seems you've taken your time to sarcastically answer my post, you could take your time as well to answer those middle eastern guys's request for new servers in their region ... They made 2 threads with 5+ pages filled with people asking for an answer from you about the services they payed for ... YOU NEVER ANSWERED! Your company sold this game in their region and doesn't provide services , and it seems no answers either. You always seem to find the time to answer people praising you, people requesting more figurines and skins, but you always ignore real problems. Nice company culture and practice....

    Language Bans

Just thought I would put in my thoughts...

Rainbow6 is a game, often refereed to as a ESport and in regular sports (Soccer etc.) you will be carded and punished for foul language, banned for toxicity. So what is the harm in bringing that into this. Rainbow6 is known for its great community and this can continue to be upheld with some punishments. I think we are taking this to far if we assume Ubisoft is gonna rule with an Iron fist, it will not be very strict as Ubisoft knows its players and wants to keep them around. Its also knows that there are some nasty players and would like to help there loyal players and members happy. That means that unless you are purposely going around insulting, belittling or ruining peoples days you will be safe. Its a game guys, Ubisoft knows that.

Many companies have answered, mute is just an option to quiet the person throwing slurs or being rude for the rest of the match, but they don't want players like that and have encouraged players to submit screenshots and videos of the disgusting behavior. So if you're being vulgar, rude, et. al. Ubisoft doesn't want you as a player. This isn't rocket science to understand. The most vulgar thing I've said in voice chat is "sh*t" or "d*mn" when I get killed otherwise I'm mature enough not to go into rude or vulgar laced rants. Average age of gamers are 18, while I'm 36 and I believe WBBCoop is older than me (if I recall correctly) and I would mute you and then proceed to submit a ticket reporting you to Ubisoft because this is a game that is designed for players to talk and communicate to each other which is pointless if you have to silence vulgar or toxic players every match or turn off chat due to an adolescent minded player that is acting their shoe size instead of being mature and respectable.

Fill me in MikeyMcPwnz..where did I exclude or be insensitive to the female players? I frequently say he/she, his/her..that kinda thing. My last posts include everyone even if there doesnt seem to be any feminine nouns being tossed out there.

Apparently you still have my post blocked because I was extremely forthcoming, I was not rude or nit picky and I had nothing out of context, yet you chose to avoid me.

#Specter: You are correct sir, I'm almost at my golden years.

It's the first time in my life I see someone promoting toxicity while hiding behind censorship, truly marvelous. OP must be the kind of person who talks about players' mothers too often. Am I right?

I'd like to know from where you pull this information
A few years ago average age across all of gaming was 31, and in a game like this I wouldn't be surprised if it's a little higher. But I think it depends on platform. Research also suggested the higher percentage of the "average" players across all gaming were console as opposed to PC. So I think PC has a lower average age, but I would still not say 18...it could have gone to mid 20s over the last 3 years but even that I feel is a stretch.

It is surprising at how toxic the R6 community is compared to other games, but I really feel because it's a hybrid game. It's a game that rewards methodical, tactical gameplay but due to mechanics it is also a game that does reward non-methodical methods that are relative to COD and other games. So it's pulling in different audiences (which from a developer standpoint, is good) that clash, and because it is slower than faster, people use it to troll.

But I agree with a lot of the other people in here...this is an online community that spans multiple continents - Ubisoft controls what's allowed and what isn't. If you are attending school, your speech can have serious consequences. So should it be in an online community that spans the world. Just be a decent human being - shouldn't be that hard. Like, at all.

. You say that the Nazis were socialists... you could not be more wrong. A quick search online reveals that in actual fact...
Almost every government during WWII, and even more-so in modern times, is some mixed form of Socialism and Capitalism

The definition of socialism: a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

A common misconception is that the government has to own the means of production/distribution/exchange for a government/economy to be considered socialist, when socialism merely requires that the government regulates it. Nazi Germany had much more regulation on private business than modern day USA for example. Nazi Gemrany was "more socialist" than modern day USA, even though neither system of government is pure capitalist or purely socialist.

To think that it's censorship because you're getting told off for using demonstrably taboo and problematic words with an evidential history of derogatory usage behind them, is inherently wrong.
But it does fit the definition of censorship. However, Ubi has the right to censor people on their own private platform. He's not wrong to call banning certain speech on a private platform "censorship".
