In ONLY protects one making political or religious speech, from government reprisals.
If you are say, in a store, a restaurant, or even online forums. And the owner disagrees with the speech you are making, the owner has a right to remove you.
If Ubisoft doesn't like popcorn, and I say popcorn is the best snack in the world, they have every right to remove me for that, just as an extreme example.
We're penalizing the racist, homophobic, and targeted toxic language being posted in the in-game chat of our game—It's against the ToS, it's offensive, it's not welcome.
If you're afraid your favorite words to spam in the chat could get you in trouble, you should probably take that as a sign that those words might not be the best choice.
Just act like a decent person towards your teammates and opponents and you won't have any problems.
I'm leaving this thread open for now, but you'll need to continue discussions about political viewpoints elsewhere—keep it within the scope of the game or I'll have to close it.
I've seen 3 player in a Squad with the N word written twice with (1337 speak letters) as their names, so when that sort of thing is going on I think it's a joke to say that any actual speech policing is going on.
Also, they sure as hell better be looking into every single suspicious instance of possible hacking behavior before reading through a bunch of text logs. Aimbots and wallhacks are a hell of a lot more offensive to me that offensive language. The word "offensive" being broadened to include more and more each day.
Let's make this a little clear for those who cry freedom of speech.
Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences.
If I scream loudly "I hate <racial slur for ethnic group here>!" it's protected under US's Freedom of Speech.
If I screen loudly "I'm going to kill <racial slur>!" or "We should kill <racial slur>!" it's not protected under US's Freedom of Speech.
Difference? The latter are inciting violence.
Now as for your claims. Historically Nazi is linked to one of the most terrible incidents in world history and the fact that you are feigning ignorance is absolutely disturbing as well as disgusting.
You also fail to understand how the world works, you are within your right to say what you want, but Ubisoft are within their rights to ban you from chat services, ban your accounts from all games, or even ban you from the forums to remove what they deem hate speech. Anything Ubisoft does is no different than a store owner asking a loud racist person screaming to leave the store.
All your first post did was show you are one of the many angry players whom shouldn't be playing any social game as you let your anger control your words.
I also suspect this is also due to anonymity because majority of players that are racists or hateful in games usually wouldn't dream of saying those things to a person's face.
No, that is annoying, not offensive. That is why offensive seems so broad, because everyone is clumping annoyances into offensive. Like the recent Purdue University bull about how "man" is offensive so it should be banned and cities like Manchester should rename themselves.Originally Posted by I___DRIVER___I Go to original post
Okay, lets take a look at the bigger picture.
1. It's a video game, your "freedom of speech" doesn't exist. (video games are not a protected platform for "freedom of speech")
2. Terms of service already dicatate those rules, the new ingame system now enforces violation of the terms of service.
3. Feel free to leave, never spend your money on a ubisoft product ever again.
Rainbow Six is not a political platform do not treat as such, If you don't like it, I'm sure thermite will gladly show you the door
Not so much included as defined would be more appropriate.Originally Posted by I___DRIVER___I Go to original post
Look everyone, lets stop beating around the bush here, we all know what it is to be verbally violated or to verbally violate someone else. It takes that special kind of person to instantly identify with another persons race, color, sex or physical attributes to use against them in any and every way possible. Nobody gives a sh*t what anyone says as long as it doesn't profile to intentionally or unintentionally cause suffer, hurt or pain. Ubi_Epi certainly doesn't give a f*ck about the word f*ck and nobody else does either, because it has no meaning nor intention. Expressions are but one part of who we are and nobody is trying to put an establishment on them. What we do not have a choice in is establishing boundaries on how far we are allowed to express ourselves on another person. What defiles a man, that is what we're talking about and everyone know it. Ubi patiently said enough!, and I wholeheartedly agree.
Meaning? No seriously?Originally Posted by Odysseus_972 Go to original post
What does louder with crowder have to do with this? Even he has agreed that freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom of consequences. So I fail to see what you are getting at with that remark.Originally Posted by Odysseus_972 Go to original post
why not be a civilised human being and avoid "naughty words?"
i've seen a lot of disgusting text in my time playing, mainly after Year 2 dropped, but it was there before as well...
I play mostly with veterans so i don't suffer that sadness, but when i random randy in casual i don't need to hear or see that garbage so i applaud Ubisoft for banning scum who talk like this.
About hack banning, that is much harder to detect, as circumventing the anti-cheat is far more complex than circumventing the language filter.... srsly ppl, grow up!
and BTW coop, sometimes words have 2 meanings, and also, women and young ladies (girls) also play this game, might try to be more sensitive and inclusive next time bro.
