As Agent Seta did with the shotgun thread, I thought it was really entertaining and awesome to see all the shotguns everyone hopes are in the game. Their were many awesome ideas and proposals of classics. It inspired me to make a similar thread about my favorite gun in Far Cry games. The Rifles and assault rifles. I always love strategically taking headshots from affar with strategic sniper rifle use as well as just running in blazing with a custom AR. I find myself using rifles religiously in these types of games. Which ones do you hope they include and which are your favorites in FC?
Here are 2 that I hope are included to spark it off.
AR-15
This one's a pretty popular and obvious pick. It's one of the more famous/infamous assault rifles of recent memory but also one of the most efficient in video games. I can almost assume it'll be present.
M1 Garand
Oh yeah, i went there lol. I want the odd ball inclusion of an epic cult classic like the M1 Garand. It's a WWII rifle but a lot of red necks have them or other vintage bolt actions but the M1 is semi auto which makes it awesome and powerful for hunting. It's a pipe dream but I'll hope for it or something like it.
Id like a decent semi auto, because the previous ones have not been that good, and once I get hold of a silenced sniper rifle, theres not much point in having one.
For auto's.... well once the Bushman signature was unlocked (used the Arena fc4 app, level 20 i think) then all others became redundant. Hopefully we are encouraged to use a wider range this time.
Apparently, you guys accross the pond know your guns (thats not a dig) so you all will have better suggestions!
However, I wouldn't mind a few COD guns, mainly because I looked a few up on line. AK 12, FAL or one of the SCAR variants would probably be good.
I wouldn't take it as such personally but just know that a lot of people over here still know little to nothing about guns, gun safety, their history, etc. ....some also rely on what they've learned from computer games, the media, etc. to supplement what knowledge they have. What I'm trying to say is don't sell yourself short.Originally Posted by Markaccus Go to original post
For me, as long as they include and M1A/M14 and 20 rnd magazines, I'll be a happy man. .....the M1A (semi-auto) is essentially an improved design of the M1 Garand and the M14 is the military variant which can be equipped with select fire (full-auto/semi-auto). An M1A has always been on my wish list of rifles to own but other things keep taking priority. .....they ain't cheap. I missed my opportunity to own an M1 Garand when I was younger. They were relatively inexpensive back in those days.
....and while it's not a rifle, I already know they'll have the 1911 which is just a personal preference of mine being an owner and a fan. In one of the gameplay videos you can see the player pick one up in a building and which had all of the modern upgrades you might expect. ....and as with all games these days, I don't doubt they'll have a slew of other popular weapon choices to choose from. IMO, you can never have enough choices.

The M14 is one I looked up. I always wanted to love it in COD4 MW, but it always fell short. In MW3, they had an MK 14, which I believe is another variant, and more accurate. The G3 (H&K manufactured gun, which you probably know) is meant to be a monster in real life.Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
Not sure about having a WW2 gun (M1A1) added, although I suppose they'd be pretty easy to ge hold of, as i believe they were mass produced. There has been plenty of war time guns in fc games, i suppose, and if somebody does an LMG version of this thread, then the LEWIS is getting my vote 😁
Yeah, those choices of mine are based on what I guess you can call sentimental reasons. As we both know, weapon traits, effectiveness, operation ,etc. can be a lot different than reality so you usually just have to go with what works best in the game (not what we know to be true in the real world). What I always thought was funny is that one weapon chambered in exact same caliber as another could somehow cause notably more damage. ....but I guess with games there's that whole matter of making them balanced and fun that gets in the way.Originally Posted by Markaccus Go to original post
Garands are still easy enough to find although from what I've seen in the market, good specimens can be very expensive depending on condition, history, etc. I think they continued to produce them throughout the 50's and I know the total # was in the millions. ....I'm sure there is a Wiki with all that info. Speaking from a personal perspective, I know it's not uncommon for folks to own one of these around the country.
The M1A (being the civilian variant of the M14) is still in production and Springfield offers a variety of flavors. All of the M1A/M14 variants are essentially the same rifle with different modifications/options, barrels, stocks, mounting options, etc. It's an effective weapon still in use by some units in the U.S. military today. ....along with the MK14 there were other military variants like the M21 and M25 as well although I couldn't tell you all the little differences between them all. I have a hard enough time remembering things as it is these days.![]()

I know an mp-40 was confirmed on the official website but that doesn't make that much sense to me
could the cult get there hands on surplus ww2 weapons, probably
but wouldn't it make more sense to be a m1a1 Thompson or m3 grease gun since the game takes place in America not Germany?
I know that there are some die hard collectors out there but the mp-40 has to be rare in the states right?
