How we repair the vehicles doesn't bother me so much (I mean, they're both pretty cheesy right?), but it is lame how getting the blow torch is a perk this time. We just had it in 4, now it's a perk point. They've really padded out this perk tree, there are hardly any active new abilities in it and a lot of fluff & things we used to get as quest rewards or separate progression paths. Finding out about the perk tree has been the most deflating aspect in following this game to me.

yes far cry repair vehicle is not right it always silly to use weld torch to fix flat tire or turn engine bolt to repair bullet damage

Well you can't expect a car mechanic simulation inside an FPS so if i were to choose between the two i would prefer the socket wrench animation over the blowtorch. But i would still prefer the blowtorch to set cows on fire

Yeah, socket wrench over the much larger blow torch. In FC2 it made sense to have the wrench since your vehicle suffered "under the hood" damage. FC3 & 4 not so. However to have the torch take up a weapons slot didn't make sense; so in FC4 it's "just there" - which also doesn't make sense.

Regardless of how one goes about making repairs, the key for me is that you remain at the mercy of the game, as should be the case with any looting/skinning animation.

Or we could just do away with fixing the engines and just move on to find another car. It's unrealistic imo all the repair animinations. Your car breaks down and enemies swarm and you just blow torch the thing for 5 seconds and off you go. And I don't understand the emphasis on which one they pick. They're both equally unrealistic and time consuming. I'd much prefer a mechanic Gun for hire type assistant who comes and repairs your car over either animation. It'll be neat if that were a feature. I just htink their has to be a better way.

Seeing that you can actually spawn vehicles almost anywhere anytime, FC5 could easily do without it unless there's a specific quest that requires you to return a car, like the death wish mission.

Wow, I didn't even know you could do that in 5. We could certainly do away with repairing the cars then. Could just respawn them. I assume with the upgrades you can spawn your upgraded saved cars kinda like Saints Row calling for you garage cars right? That's an awesome idea. I'm liking the thought of it. It's even less realistic but certainly more convenient and fun.

I've seen absolutely nothing to indicate vehicles can be spawned anywhere but specific garages in friendly controlled locations, dunno WTF y'all are talkin' about... While the repairing of vehicles is not 'high realism' it's there mostly so you don't get stranded somewhere far away from an alternate mode of transport. You're not always right next to another vehicle...

Garages is what i'm talking about; they're surely scattered fairly throughout the map.

A "far cry" from 'anywhere, anytime' however, & I got the impression that isn't what georgie was thinking you meant...
