    Division Survival vs PUBG

In the Division, I was ranked 140 in the world on xbox in DZ loot extracted 3 months after the game came out.

In PUBG I was ranked 15 in the world in duo's and 35 in the world in solo's one week after the game was released and in the top couple hundred a month after It was released.

I stopped playing the Division about 3 months after the game came out, not long after the patch that nerfed the sentry set. Those first three months were some of the very best gaming I have ever had. Final Fantasy VII level fun. I was very good at coordinating a team and had some very good support players. We used to run around in the DZ and blast the Rocky Theme Song while going rouge and people would be laughing so hard it would make them even easier targets. I can see how this created a lot of potential for toxic players to have a lot of freedom, but at it's heart The Division is a fun game, but it is Iconic because of it's ability to socially connect good players.

When Survival came out for The Division, it re watered the salty promised lands that the Division had become. The Division's Survival mode is amazing. It is very harsh and unforgiving. It is super Immersive and can offer very intense and consequential game play. I would solo squad games and destroy other groups of players because of the skill curve and having better leveled gear in endgame. Those moments when a squad is calling in extraction and I am stalking in the shadows ready to make them pay for disturbing the final guy that comes along with the helicopter call, are so exhilarating. The survival world was so harsh.

PubG is a lot of fun, too. The cold doesn't kill you, and you don't get hungry but the storm mechanic is efficient and offers a lot of random chance in the final circle. The final circle is a lot of fun. The skill curve is super high, and the game play is very consequential and the immersion level is very high. I really like the aspect that vehicles bring to the gameplay and also the helicopter/parachute drop. I really like the random loot, and think that is the shortcoming in the Division's Survival Mode in comparision.

In comparison of the two, the aspect of time is different because instead of medicine, the closing circle controls the amount of time that a game can potentially last. Taking medicine in the Division, offers incentive to loot more in order to survive longer, whereas in PubG staying hidden can offer a lot more survivability. Although in the Division and in PubG, actually hearing other player's gunfire first could offer a huge advantage. In the Division, the loot was more fixed. I think that the random loot in PubG adds an essential dynamic between the two. Also, the randomness of the final circle adds a lot of fun to the unpredictability of games in PubG. Vehicles are fun in PubG.

But what I see as being a lot of fun would be a mix of the two. It could even be it's on spin off in the Divsion franchise, not unlike Metal Gear Survival Mode. What both the Division and PubG lack is primarily more maps. If someone could perfect random maps with random buildings and random loot, even making certain maps have theme sets, that would be outstanding. The actual survival elements of the Division are more immersive, they make your player feel human and the open world communication is iconic. Maybe if the division had a couple of maps that were bigger and could support more players and also find a way to make the actual extraction area completely random, I would be ready to buy a season pass.

Anyhow I hope the Division 2 has better luck than Destiny 2. I really like gaming as a service. Idea: maps for micro transactions.

Honestly, I like Survival for what it is. I don't think it needs to compete with PUBG in any way. They could always add in a Battle Royale gamemode into the sequel but, TBH, I'm not sure how it'd go down.

Here's hoping The Division 2 has a Survival mode too.

I have never played a single match of Player Unknown's Battlegrounds and I'm completely fine with that. I have no intention to play it as I have other options available in the form of Fortnite Battle Royale and the Survival mode in The Division. I do agree the with the harshness. I have had some nerve racking, heart pounding solo survival runs throughout my play time and every so often, I still go back in and try to beat my personal best score, find a different route to the Dark Zone or attempt to unlock a commendation.

The game mode truly deserves to be given that title, as you truly need to survive.

There would be a lot of fun to have a mix of these two.
