Is Gladiator viable at higher ranks?

It's been funny to fight newbies like myself with no parries or faints to screw up my day, but I understand that's temporary.

My question is: is it even viable ? I mean, Gladiator is like butter, a lot of calories to burn and easy to cutt. If I miss a single parry or dodge, I'm pretty much dead. I can have a taste of that pain when playing against Shugoki "mains" who can spam their unstoppable heavies and my only option is to dance with the fatboy untl he dies of a heart attack.

    Thoughts?

I for one have trouble fighting gladiator, whis mixup with unblockables are fast and unpredictable (try to parry and get hit / try not to and be hit) his stab, feet stab, stab, feet stab are anoying as hell and hard to even dodge. the worst is that it deals damage on something that is so rapid and unblockable/parryable.

Glad is S-Tier in higher skill levels. Together with Shaman (and now Conq + Kensei) he has the best mixups in the game due to alot of unblockables and feintable moves.

Gladiator is very cheap character. People just spam toe stab all days. After get a light hit, toe stab is undodgeable. He also has another cheap move with side dash shield slap and zone slap follow with a spear swing which are unblockable. I hope they will nerf these moves

Toe Stab deals 10 damage and is highly punishable (free GB). Side dash into shield bash is easily dodgeable and has no guaranteed damage if it hits. His Zone is dodgeable on reaction.
Don't forget that all of Glad's moves deal little to medium damage only and that he has, by far, the worst guard.

No it's not easy to punish his toe stab due to the change of dodge right now, when you changing guard the dodge move is slower for 100ms.

After a light hit or a feint, it's nearly impossible to dodge his toe stab unless you have to press the button before you see it.

And also after blocking a heavy, it seems that Glad has frame advantage so we have to press the dodge button before we see his toe stab.

It does only 10 damage but it's spammable due to the change of the latest patch.

As much as I agree with the things you said about toe stab (it is extremely predictable at the end of any chain and very, VERY punishable) as well as the terrible guard, I have to disagree about his zone being dodgeable on reaction.

With the changes to back dodges, unless your guard is already set to the right, even if you dodge the initial punch in his zone you'll still get slapped for free because of the delay on guard switches on back dodges. This coupled with the speed of the move makes it ridiculously punishing for no apparent reason, especially against slower characters (who can't even parry the follow up if it's dodged).

I was never a fan of attacks that quick which lead to guaranteed damage, and as much as gladiator struggles in other areas, this is and has always been a bit too strong. Either reduce the damage of the follow up to like, 12 (I think it's at 18 or 20 right now), make the follow up a bit slower (if it hits, you still get the free damage, but if it misses it's slower and can be parried), or prevent him from cancelling after the punch.

You can parry Toe-stab with Conq's Zone.
