Back Step needs to go it's as broken as the old parry system.

i play shaman and i run when i go oos and it feels bad abusing a broken mechanic

while oos back step needs to be disabled for all characters .

sorry Assassins but you're no better than the other , manage your stamina instead of spaming zone attack (pk i say hello )

I bet they don't completly remove it Imo that stupid worse come to worse make it consume stamina so in a pinch can still be used to make room or to dodge raider charge

Stamina management with a zerk is rough... real rough.

Just bringing the OOS dodge distance to level of other characters should do for start, so they cant just back out of fight safe from any punishment when they run out of stamina and have to defend themselves like the others. I have some basic rep racked on assassins and dont think reflex guard REALLY makes a difference, certainly not to warrant "Get out of jail free" card with OOS backdodge.

Less hp is less hp, you can’t work on averages if you’re talking balance, you need to look at edge cases. An assassin can go down in 3 heavies.

And for the block I mean regular block. Reflex guard (sorry I said reactive before... it’s late here) has a delay on direction change, and only lasts a second, the delay can stop an assassin from reacting to further attacks once the first connects. Normal guard will auto block a direction without player input if already in the correct direction, and upon input will always change direction instantly. That’s why assassins can get caught in light spam where my raider can block it all day long, then plant an assassin on its *** in 3 hits when they go oos - obviously they’ve got to be pretty unlucky to cop all three hits. But that third hit especially will track them to the moon, and belt them into the sun. I’m pretty sure all other classes would be rather unhealthy but still in the game in that situation.

On top of that, the decay of reflex guard on some assassins is quicker - you can react to a heavy, have the guard decay kick in and the heavy will still hit you as the reflex guard dissolved quicker than the heavy resolved. I don’t think it would be fair to have so much disparity in defence when the trade off to reflex for assassins are disabled, yet everyone else can keep on keeping on.

It’s definitely not a get out of jail free card. It can be a guaranteed guard break or unblockable light/running attack. With so many people saying it needs to go I ain’t gonna say it isn’t an issue, but the answer surely can’t be “your stuck here now, good luck with your diminished guard”.

You need one blocked chain or CGB to be free tobe able backdodge out of range safely.

God forbid you would have to block for five seconds like others.
Your mileage may vary, but in my experience the reflex guard is a non-issue. (Not talking about glad and shinobi since my experience with shorter reflex guard is limited).

To be honest, as a mostly assassin player,I do feel back dodge is too safe as it stands, while yes with the quicker decaying reactive guard of the shinobi and gladiator it can be a pain, the onus on them is the same as anyone else in that it is up to them to manage stamina and to survive going OOS. In its current state, we usually wind up just standing there if I go OOS because the opponent knows full well unless I am cornered there is no catching me.

I normally play as zerk I tend to stand still on oss as a bad timed dodge give them a free gb I'm all for the distance being normalised

Straight from the Pope (our Community Developer, Eric Pope) himself, the Fight Team is apparently working on a global backdodge change hopefully to come later this season.
