Are we going to be able to fight planes and helicopters outside the story missions?

Are they going to be flying around randomly while exploring the map?

    Yup.

Many of the videos online have shown random helicopters attacking the player, and in this video around the 1:40 mark, the narrator says that after reaching the 2nd milestone of the resistance meter in the Holland Valley region, there will be planes actively flying the skies that will attack on sight.

I wonder how cover will work in these cases. In other words, I wonder if you;ll need to be under or behind hard cover or if being in thick brush / woods / forest will suffice to keep you from being spotted.

If you've seen any of the videos the cover looks pretty durn good, as if one were really in a forest. I'm sure the BGs will have icons above their heads showing what they are, so we'll be sure to see them. The forests I saw in some of the videos were very bushy let's say. Very concealable. Makes me wonder what the A.I. will be like though, whether they'll have an icon above the FPS's head or not. Cover behind a vehicle looks good, behind anything solid looks good as well. From watching one of the videos of the player on an ATV it appeared that they were well concealed while travelling through the forest, landing in a lake and such. Looks comprehensive to me.

Well, in my case I'll be playing without enemy markers or most of the visual aids. .....but that's just me, I hate using some of those things especially the way FC employs them.

My question about cover was particularly regarding evasion from enemies in helos but I guess the system will be the same as usual regarding bushes and hard cover. In a dense forest I'm sure the trees provide enough interruption in the enemies LOS (while you move) to make it difficult for them to get a "lock" on you.

I like that type of gaming as well. In watching some of the videos, the player was in the forest, just off the road and couldn't really see the hunter(s) which were near them, nor they you, but say were behind and near them and standing behind some other trees, nor could they be seen by the helo, or hunters. Having had experience being in a helo (during my military career) it is somewhat difficult to see people who are in a forest with you looking for them, and their not wanting to be found. As trees, most firs, pines and such that I'm sure FC5 will have in their forests do conceal very well from the air. Then there's downed logs, brush, and rocks which provide good cover. Lastly, camoflage works as well.

Since we will get to create our character's clothing, from what I've heard, choosing darker earth-toned clothes is a plus if one doesn't want to be seen in a forest. Which is why hunters usually wear camoflage whlie hunting (although depends on the critter one is hunting).

If clothing has an effect on detection, I would be in hog heaven. That was one of several things missing in GRW.

Agreed, however I think that's a big "if" in FC5.

Is it actually known that the outfit chosen has any impact in the SP portion of the game? My impression is that clothes only are seen during coop/multiplplayer.

I have also heard no talk of clothes choice having effect on our detection status
