Why I am convinced Ubisoft has some kind of grudge against the Polish.

Before I get into this, let me clarify; I am of Polish descent, I could just be reading too much into it, but hopefully you can see why I feel this way. Anyway, this starts back with Operation Health, specifically what was cut to, for lack of a better term, make room for it. The season it was infringing on could have been cut, or the final season could have been cut, but which season got cut? Poland's season. After around two years, Poland was finally getting recognition in Siege, I was very happy when I heard GROM was being added top the game, and quite disappointed when I heard the Polish season was getting cut. Sure we got the Operators, but Ubisoft cut the Polish map, they could have added it this year, rather than "buffing" old maps and slapping new coats of paint on other pre-existing maps, but it seems it's permanently scrapped. In addition to that, only 2 seasonal Polish-themed weapon skins have been released, rather than the usual 4, and the odds of seeing 2 more are about as likely as the Polish map (nonexistent, if you haven't been following) being introduced.

Let's get into the nerf sledgehammer Ubisoft has been bludgeoning Ela with. Now before you start crying about how OP she is why "she needs to get nerfed" let me point out the balance so-to-speak, of her being "OP." Her unique gadget, the Grzmot mine, is the most worthless gadget in the game. Absolutely zero damage, doesn't blind, it doesn't even slow you down anymore. With a gadget that honestly doesn't give an advantage, she needs good weapons to compete with Operators who have gadgets that actually turn the tide of battle. But let's go back the mines for a second before getting into the weapons: they were nerfed. Twice... What? Quantity was reduced and then they nerfed the overall effects, doesn't last as long and you can sprint through the duration, making them even more worthless than they already were. Zofia's stun grenades were also hit with the same nerf.

Onto the weapons, I'll start with shotgun, as that is what most will agree; is the most 'balanced' weapon in her loadout. It's not very different from the Saiga, and I've only used it a few times, but it's good for what it is, an automatic shotgun, not weak and not too strong, which is why it hasn't been touched... By both the nerf hammer and the community. Now the pistol, after the recent pistol changes it is now, if I am correct, the second weakest sidearm (ahead only of the 5.7) in the game. "But it has a RDS by default!" So that reduces damage? Yeah, no. That's not giving an accuracy buff, the mediocre damage is just dumb. Moving on, the main event: Scorpion EVO 3 A1, the gun from Hell. Effective at short to medium range, and usable at long, something a shotgun and a pistol are not. High fire rate, decent accuracy, manageable recoil, extended magazine, a gun perfect for an Operator with a meaningful gadget. Sure I'll admit, the Scorpion is a little too good, nerfing it is one thing, it's been hit 3 times now. First recoil was increased, then magazine capacity was reduced, third and (probably not) finally, damage reduced and recoil increased even more. I've seen the comparison videos from people on TTS, the new Scorpion is atrocious.

That last paragraph was a little long, so I'm throwing her impacts into this one... A 3-speed roamer who can no longer roam properly, having to rely on her team to create holes for her. Or use the shotgun, which is a downgraded alternative, costing her ammo that could be used in a gunfight. Now with her impacts being replaced by a deployable shield, she essentially has been reduced to a 1-armor camper. "Independent, creative, and rebellious..." -Ela's psych profile. Ubisoft, if you're gonna introduce significant lore to the game, don't make it irrelevant. Forcing her to rely on teammates is the polar opposite of her personality. "BECAUSE GAMEPLAY!" Yeah I'll get to that in a minute. To my knowledge, no other Operator in the history of Siege has been nerfed as much as Ela, nor as hard. And to quote one of the dev's at Ubisoft: "we're not done yet."

Here's where you're saying (or you probably said it after reading the first sentence) "why don't you just stop using her?" If Siege was like CoD for example, no character just loadouts, I don't think Siege would be thriving like it is now, there are several things about this game that draw people in, one of which is the characters. Not necessarily the characters themselves, so much as what they are, Tier 1 Operators from nations around the globe. We love certain characters because we relate to them for one reason or another, usually because of ethnicity. I'm Polish-American, I've got the American and the Attacker part covered with Blackbeard. Ela was the first Polish Operator added to Siege, and a Defender. I don't use her for her weapons, not for her former ability to be a good roamer, most definitely not for her gadgets, I use her because I can relate to her, because I get to play as a Tier 1 Operator from the country of my heritage. That is why I will not stop using Ela, despite her overt sledgehammer nerfs.

If you've made it this far, thanks for taking the time and bearing with my frustration. Some of these nerfs have felt like they go beyond gameplay, from a certain point of view.

I attempt to use multiple operators and afraid I don’t play either sister nearly enough to comment on their weaponry, but I was wishful on receiving a Polish map in the following season to the release of Zofia, and was somewhat disappointed when we didn’t.

I agree with you about the replacement of Ela’s impact grenades to a shield; I feel that this is pure idiocy, (no disrespect intended). Quoting what I wrote on the matter in another thread: ‘what’s next? Reinforcements for attackers.’ Fingers-crossed UBISOFT realise this as an error in judgement and rightfully return them to her, she is after all a roaming operator.

Rainbow 6 siege is indeed unique for its variety of operators and I applaud you on your devotion to operators of your heritage.

Couple of things the mines are definitely one of the better traps even after the nerf with low ttk and the mine making u defenseless for at least 3 seconds more often than not you're dead not to mention the range of them and that they hit through walls and floors and you can place them anywhere. Two the gun never should have been added its the smg11 on crack like why. Now that that's out the way I agree they shouldn't have taken the polish map out no reason for it at all and couldn't tell ya if they got a grudge or not but most likely its just plain stupid decisions.

My only regret is that UBI did not completely remove Ela from the game along with drop shot.

Take both of those sh*t garbage toxic cancers back to call of duty.

To my knowledge, no other Operator in the history of Siege has been nerfed as much as Ela, nor as hard.
    Now this is gold.

Ela's nerfs are a tap on the wrist compared to Blackbeard's absolute reaming; there's a good reason he is nicknamed "Nerfbeard." Ela still has a long way to go to attain that status. If Ubisoft has something against Poland because they nerfed Ela, they must seethe with pure hatred against America.

As predicted, the post devolved into "yet another X main whining about their chosen operator" thread. Ela is way too strong, and the increased kick + impact to shield swap, still may not be enough.

I'll commend you for being loyal to your chosen operators, and your passion for the game. You can also express your views pretty well. But the views themselves? Nah, man. Ela's mines are great, her nerfs are justified, and she's not suddenly terrible at roaming - she's simply not as capable on her own. That's fine - she is too strong as-is.

I wasn't aware Jäger was a camper. I'm pretty sure I see him running all the time.

More seriously, there's 5x3 speed operators on defense. Only two had access to the impact, her and Cav. Jäger doesn't have anything to make holes and Pulse and Bandit have the nitro which, while very effective at making one big hole, is much more useful if kept as a weapon. When my teammates are roamers with no access to the impact, they almost always ask the other players to make them their holes so they can move around. Now Ela will fall into that category. It's a nerf, sure, but is it going too far? I don't believe so.

If anything can make Ela unused, I'm in, just the same as I would be for Ash. That said, she was nerfed "three times" because the first two were no actual nerfs. Overall, the first real nerf she is getting is Chimera's one. The recoil they added with the first nerf was unexistant and the mag size reduction of just 10 shots was just a joke that doesn't even make you laugh. Her gadget is not useless at all, it gives you an edge (another one) over attackers, as you are warned when they activate it, while you can quickly run there and get easy shots on them. More often than not, because of the dizzying and sound effect, they won't even hear you coming in. Those mines allow attackers affected by them to run now, sure, but you will run at the same speed a shielded Blackbeard would. Had I been in the balancement team, I would have removed another 10-15 shots from her mag, leaving impact grenades where they should be. I don't understand why they never added the polish map though, and it would be a welcome addition, as map rotation is getting stale. While I find Zofia to be balanced, even though she could use a concussion mine reduction, Ela has never been. All those who pick Ela do that because of her weapon and her Ash-like hitbox. Her gadget is also good, but try giving her a LMG, we'll see how many will still be picking her. And when italian operators will come out (yes, I am italian), I will not care for them to be nerfed, if they deserve to be. This is a game and needs to be treated as such, there is no country ruling over others here.
