Would be great if 5 had dual wielding with any combination of side-arms. Imagine the carnage with the thumper grenade launcher in one hand & the mac-11 in the other!Originally Posted by Fallen-Champ Go to original post
Never been a fan of "dual wielding" as I've always preferred a more "realistic" approach vs. Hollywood. I know FC leans to the latter but glad to see they don't go too far for my taste.
Once all the targeting and other aids are turned off, it can still provide a decent "tactical shooter" experience. Things like DW would just take more away from that. .....for me at least.
Would it being an option somehow negatively affect that experience if you just don't use it?Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
As an option? Maybe, as long as it didn't negatively impact the balance of gameplay. Its just something I always found really hokey but if Ubi felt the need to go that route, there's not a whole lot I could do about it.
Just saying I'm glad it was something they steered away from. .....personally.
Really what I'm asking is how would dual wielding negatively impact gameplay balance? Imagine the game as it is now, but with the option to hold 2 side arms at once, how is that any different?Originally Posted by Kean_1 Go to original post
The introduction of DW would likely require some level of balancing. How that would be implemented, whether it would only affect the DW weapons, all sidearms, the damage model, etc., I really don't know.Originally Posted by HorTyS Go to original post
What I'm saying is that as long as the introduction of DW doesn't upset that balance for other weapons (e.g. making sidearms less effective, increasing bullet resistance/sponginess, etc.), I don't personally see a problem with it. In other words, I'm ok with it being implemented (although I have zero interest in it) but I wouldn't want to see it impact the current weapon / damage model if that is the case.
Either way, it's all sort of a moot point. The reason I'm glad they steered away from it is simply because I prefer games that tend to lean more toward realism than Hollywood when it comes to gunplay. I expect FC these days to lean to the latter but I don't mind when they take steps toward the former. Elements of FC5 seem like that was the route they were going which is partly why I'm interested in it.
