I honestly don't like the direction Ubisoft games are heading, with microtransactions (especially those which affect gameplay, and yes, this includes "time-savers") being featured in every game. Far Cry is the last remaining series I like from Ubisoft that had never been polluted by this.... until now.
Alright, it has been confirmed several times on many sites and videos that Far Cry 5 will NOT feature loot boxes, which is nice...
https://twitter.com/farcrygame/statu...009216?lang=es
But, we do know that microtransactions will be featured in this game (I honestly think there's still a lot of people out there that think that loot boxes are the only bad thing about mtx). Confirmed by Steam's Far Cry 5 page:
So, my question is: what will these mtx consist of EXACTLY? Cosmetic only? Unlock weapons? In-game currency? What can be bought with that currency if so?
Please give me all the details you can about how exactly microtransactions will work.
In-App purchases (at least on Steam) also refer to DLC Season Passes, so we know what we are getting for that.
As for microtransations, I am sure if they do any, they are gonna are gonna be like Ghost Warrior: Wild Lands and make them cosmetic for the most part. They might add some weapons down the line, but I really think they will only do cosmetic stuff.
Thanks for your input, but I must correct you in some points:
No, the "In-App puchases" tag on Steam games does NOT refer to DLC or Season Passes in games. Those have been present for a decade in Steam games and they have never featured that tag. If a game in Steam displays the "In-App purchases" tag, you can be sure it has microtransactions, I know quite a few examples. In fact, I even know instances of games featuring microtransactions that do NOT have the tag on their Steam page, but not the other way around =(
As for the second paragraph, Wildlands did not only feature cosmetic mtx, so I hope they don't include that kind of mtx in Far Cry 5. For the time being, there are a lot of "maybes", and for that reason I decided to make this thread. I want an official answer.
For once there will not be any loot boxes.
Second . All micro-transactions will be pure cosmetics and optional.
You will be able to finish the game with out unnecessary grinding, just like any other recent Ubisoft game.
So I don't see what is all the fuss about !
Also regarding GRW, Also all micro-transactions are optional, and 100% Cosmetics.
If you think otherwise, prove me wrong .
I already said that. They confirmed it in several interviews and Twitter, which I linked aboveOriginally Posted by KmarkoPL Go to original post
Now, this is what I would like to know, but do you have any real proof of that, aside from the fact that all latest Ubisoft games are like that? Because that isn't really conclusive. I opened this thread looking for official confirmation about what mtx will be about.Originally Posted by KmarkoPL Go to original post
Basically, the fuss is all about the fact that we know that Far Cry 5 will not have loot boxes, but it WILL have mtx, and Ubisoft still hasn't stated how exactly they will work. Although it might seem likely that the mtx will work in the same way as recent Ubisoft open-world titles (Ghost Recon: Wildlands, AC:O...), we can't really know for sure until they themselves confirm this, which is the main point of this thread. I'm still waiting for an official reply.Originally Posted by KmarkoPL Go to original post
If you own the game, I invite you to boot it up right now and, on the main menu, select "Shop / Store" (I don't know how it's called in the English version). Scroll down the list on the left side and you'll realize it is no longer cosmetic only microtransactions =(Originally Posted by KmarkoPL Go to original post
I own the GRW.
All weapons can be obtained in game for free by just playing it.
All what you get from micro-transactions are cosmetic outfits, vehicles witch are no different from the free in game, and weapons, witch are the same but with different paint on it.
All that is available in packs and battle crates.
And as I pointed out , ALL IS OPTIONAL AND COSMETIC !!
Then look again. There's more than what you said within the store menu to purchase with mtx, namely xp boosts, PVP class unlocks and weapon unlocks (you know, the typical time-saver so that you don't have to travel the map to unlock them). Yes, there is cosmetic stuff to purchase, but not EVERYTHING is cosmetic. Whether it is considered "optional" or not really depends on player perspective. Those non-cosmetic mtx I just mentioned might feel optional and not annoying to you, but they certainly are to me.Originally Posted by KmarkoPL Go to original post
I'm not picking on GR:WL here, just pointing out that it DOES feature non-cosmetic microtransactions.
Good luck with that ...Originally Posted by Helmnos Go to original post
haha, right? The only reason to care what the 'mtx' consist of, is if you plan on buying them, and if you plan on buying them, you're part of the reason companies keep putting them in games. If you don't buy them, it doesn't matter what they are. IF the game has mtx, I'm not spending a single cent on them, so I really couldn't care less what they are...Originally Posted by MikeWeeks Go to original post
"In-App puchases" means that the developer applied for microtransaction API from Steam in order to process purchases (steam has % on it).
That being said, microtransactions or lootboxes are 100% legit as long as they don't prevent the gamer from having a complete experience as advertised.
Although, in the future, i would hope that companies will inform buyers on the nature of those transactions on the product page as soon as they allow pre-orders.
